Ever wondered what Sammy Sportface looks like on the Fourth of July? Or what he typically does on this holiday?
Didn’t think so.
But check out this photo of him all blown up – 45-feet tall – sporting huge black shoes and a sweet red, white, and blue outfit, with an air of confidence he is the main man all day long. This is his day.
There’s a saying about trade shows: go big or go home. There’s a saying about Uncle Sam blow up dolls in yards on July 4th: go big or go to the beach.
This big bodacious blown up doll embodies the Sammy Sportface brand: capitalize on a timely event, be unnecessarily large, exaggerate everything about yourself, and lure innocent people to stop and take pictures of you because you stand out so much.
Did you know it’s entirely possible that Uncle Sam is also Sammy Sportface?
The blow up doll in the photo is a ChatGPT version of how Sammy Sportface would look if he dressed up for the Fourth of July.
AI is incredible.
If you had already put all that together, there’s no need to read any further.
Sammy Sportface is, among many other things, a hard-core chameleon. He can become whatever he needs to be on any given day or situation. He’s as malleable as wet plywood.
Right now he’s standing in some yard at the beach. At the same time he’s writing a blog about himself. All the while he’s thinking about how much he would like to get a bucket packed with Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Later today Uncle Sammy will bounce up the beach, all blown up, and glad-hand people like a suave politician. Later tonight he’ll give a speech on Main Street in the beach town. This is what he’ll say:
“Most of you think I’m just full of a lot of hot air, and you would be correct in saying that. And a subset of you would be dubious that I am the same guy who writes sports blogs under the pseudonym Sammy Sportface.
But I want you to think about America and what it stands for on this momentous Fourth of July. America is the land of opportunity. It is an idea, an ideal, a concept.
And so am I, a blow up doll. So is Sammy Sportface, a sports blogger. We’re all about make believe and making you believe.
In this country we imagine because we are allowed to. We create because it’s encouraged. We blow up dolls and write blogs and it’s allowed under the Constitution of the United States and Federalist Papers.
Let us celebrate today all that is good about our country – freedom of the press, freedom to blow up ourselves and stand on a lawn, freedom to give speeches at the beach, freedom to press the flesh on the beach, freedom to take pictures of a blown up Uncle Sammy Sportface, freedom to write about things that don’t add up, freedom to blow up a beach town on the Fourth of July, freedom to be whomever or whatever you want to be.
