Wrapping up the All-Star game predictions with the National League pitchers and reserves. With many injuries piling up, multiple other players will receive the nod, which I mentioned below.
These were the players I predicted to start the game for the National League.
C – Will Smith (LAD)
1B – Freddie Freeman (LAD)
2B – Ketel Marte (ARI)
SS – Francisco Lindor (NYM)
3B – Manny Machado (SDP)
OF1 – Kyle Tucker (CHC)
OF2 – Ronald Acuna Jr. (ATL)
OF3 – Juan Soto (NYM)
DH – Shohei Ohtani (LAD)
P – Paul Skenes (PIT)
These were the results from the fan-voting and players named All-Star starters on 7/2 on ESPN: Full rosters to be announced July 6 at 5 pm EST on ESPN.

OF3 – Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHC)
DH – Shohei Ohtani (LAD)
The starting pitcher will be announced after the full rosters are revealed, chosen by Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.
Reserves:
C – Hunter Goodman (COL)
INF – Pete Alonso (NYM)
INF – Michael Busch (CHC)
INF – Brendan Donovan (STL)
INF – Elly De La Cruz (CIN)
INF – Eugenio Suarez (ARI)
INF – Max Muncy (LAD)
OF – James Wood (WAS)
OF – Juan Soto (NYM)
OF – Corbin Carroll (ARI)
OF – Kyle Stowers (MIA)
DH – Kyle Schwarber (PHI)
The injuries will start with two players here, as Dodgers 3B Max Muncy and Diamondbacks OF Corbin Caroll will both miss the All-Star game, but are both worthy of their selections.
The most likely candidates to replace Muncy would be either Nationals SS CJ Abrams or Phillies SS Trea Turner. Their stat lines are very similar, but I will lean towards Abrams due to his 20-point difference in his OPS+ and give him the nod over Turner.
Turner slashine – .297/.351/.451, .802 OPS, 119 OPS+, 2.9 WAR
Abrams slashline – .287/.356/.491, .847 OPS, 140 OPS+, 3.2 WAR
As for Carroll’s injury replacement, the options are between DHs Chicago Cubs Seyia Suzuki, San Francisco Giants Rafael Devers, and Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andy Pages.
Giving Pages the nod here was an easy decision due to his similar batting statistics to go along with his stellar defense. Both Devers and Suzuki get snubbed here, as it is hard to fit four or even three DHs on this roster.
Pages slashline – .293/.329/.510, .839 OPS, 133 OPS+, 3.2 WAR
Suzuki slashline – .261/.319/.550, .869 OPS, 145 OPS+, 1.9 WAR
Devers slashline – .260/.384/.477, .861 OPS, 141 OPS+, 2.2 WAR
Even with the initial Devers snub from my roster, it is still possible for him to be recognized as an All-Star. In 2014, Jeff Samardzija was traded from the Chicago Cubs to the Oakland Athletics before the All-Star break. He was deemed ineligible for the game as he was selected as an NL All-Star, but was now in the American League.
Devers’ situation is much different, as he is now a member of the Giants before the selection, but has spent the majority of the 2025 season in Boston. Whether the league does something like this is an interesting storyline to monitor.
Goodman and Stowers are both having very underrated seasons for the bottom-feeding Rockies and Marlins. Both will be first-time All-Stars and their teams’ only representatives.
Pitchers:
SP – Chris Sale (ATL)
SP – Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LAD)
SP – Spencer Schwellenbach (ATL)
SP – Zack Wheeler (PHI)
SP – Freddy Peralta (MIL)
SP – Logan Webb (SFG)
SP – MacKenzie Gore (WAS)
RP – Trevor Megill (MIL)
RP – Edwin Diaz (NYM)
RP – Robert Suarez (SDP)
RP – Randy Rodriguez (SFG)
Much like the reserves, the pictures have two selected and deserving players who will miss the game due to injuries. Braves hurlers Chris Sale and Spencer Schwellenbach were both recently injured and will likely miss at least one month of action. My predictions for their replacements would be San Francisco Giants LHP Robbie Ray and Chicago Cubs LHP Matthew Boyd.
Both pitchers have been sensational and could arguably be on the initial roster.
Boyd – 8-3 (W/L), 2.65 ERA, 17 GS, 98.2 IP, 87 SO, 1.084 WHIP
Ray – 8-2 (W/L), 2.75 ERA, 17 GS, 98.1 IP, 110 SO, 1.149 WHIP
Other honorable mentions would be STL Sonny Gray, PHI Ranger Suarez, CIN Andrew Abbott, and NYM Clay Holmes.
Randy Rodriguez has been a huge surprise out of the Giants’ bullpen, the only non-closer I have chosen in this game. The young righty has posted an ERA under one at 0.72, in 37.2 IP with a WHIP of 0.770.
Paul Skenes will likely start this game as I predicted; however, manager Dave Roberts may opt to give this honor to another pitcher, such as Zack Wheeler or his own Yoshinobu Yamamoto, since Skenes started last year’s game.
