Look out, man. Joker ain’t in no jokin’ mood.
Lost his coach this week and his general manager. A desperation demolition derby in Denver.
In this chaos, last night on the sidelines, he drew up plays on the whiteboard. The new self-appointed player-coach of the Denver Nuggets. Shades of Bill Russell.
It’s all on him. And he knows it.
He wants his second NBA Title. It’s already a given he’ll get robbed for a second time by being snubbed for the MVP of the league he deserves. He’s been the MVP of the league for five straight seasons, and you’ll never convince me otherwise. And I know basketball, so don’t even try to debate me.
The Colorado Rockies mountains are being erected all around him. He’s not getting what he deserves. The team is busted up.
But there he is wearing number 5260 on his jersey, symbolic of the 5,260 feet the Mile High City of Denver. Does he have a chance to win the title? Right now, it doesn’t look promising. His teammates just aren’t helping him out enough. Luka and Bron prowl in LA. Bron wants another to get closer to MJ’s six NBA titles.
SGA and the Thunder have proven they’re the best team in the league. And the Nuggets can’t beat the Timberwolves.
Can Joker pull the ultimate joke on all of them and win another title and prove he’s the greatest basketball player who has ever lived? Or will he get stopped?
Tell you what, man. If he pulls this off with his team all discombobulated, he’ll be the all-time basketball hero for all time. He’s the only MVP who has never had a teammate who made the All-Star Game. He’s breaking Wilt Chamberlain records. And I get the sense he’s really ticked off for the second time that he won’t get the MVP when everyone knows he’s the most valuable player in the entire league. SGA is a great player. Nothing against him. But Joker is better. Look at the stats and you’ll see. What’s wrong is wrong, and Joker not winning the MVP is wrong on every level.
This man is learning about the American injustice system. You can be the best and not be rewarded for it. You can dominate everybody and still not get what you earned. You can work day and night and dedicate your whole self and prove you’re above the rest, and get second place.
It isn’t fair. This man is not being treated the way he should be.
I believe this whole scandal is fueling his fire. I can see him leading his teammates, telling them they’re going to listen to every word he says the rest of the season because he’s a basketball genius, and them doing that and this all ending up the way it should, with the best player in the world winning the world championship.
For a host of reasons, I’m not much interested in sports anymore, except for this humble and likable man. But this guy’s situation right now is riveting. Throughout the Western Conference NBA Playoffs, it’s going to be thrilling and highly personalized drama. All of them are going to fight like hell to get the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
Wouldn’t it be a joke on all of them if the Joker hoists that hardware in June and we all get to watch him be cool and not selfish when they win? Wouldn’t that be a cruel joke on all the people who don’t vote for him to win the MVP because they’re biased and not objective about who the most valuable player really is? It’s intellectual dishonesty.
Wouldn’t this be something The Joker would do? Have the last laugh?
