As the USF Bulls start their 2024 season under the lights at Raymond James Stadium, one of the newer looks featured the Publix logos on their field. It is part of a new rule that the NCAA passed. Vice President for Athletics Michael Kelly said the logos will help us provide more for student-athletes and athletic programs. The logo will not go away for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers games as the Bulls share Raymond James Stadium for the next few years until they move into their new on-campus stadium. This is another big tool the program can use to bring in recruits or transfers. The fans wanted it and they have it so they will have to show up and support the Bulls. The crowds at Raymond James Stadium have been hit or miss depending on the opponent.
The first opponent in 2024 was the Bethune Cookman Wildcats. The first half was an absolute beatdown by the USF Bulls. They took a 31-3 lead into the half. Bryum Brown USF was 11-16 with 102 yards and no passing touchdowns but one rushing. The Bulls’ running game accounted for three rushing touchdowns by Kelley Joiner Jr., Nay’Quan Wright, and Ta’Ron Keith. The Wildcats changed quarterbacks in the first quarter and had under 50 yards total. The Bulls were the opposite as they had over 200 yards. USF averaged five yards a carry and had four rushing touchdowns. The Bulls ended the half with a long field goal.

The second half started the same way the first half ended. The Bulls took their first drive and got another rushing touchdown. Every aspect of the game was working and the defense kept the Wildcats from making big plays. Bethune Cookman made its second turnover, another interception. After the second interception, the Bulls made a change at quarterback and brought in Bryce Archie. On the first play, he threw a 15-yard touchdown pass and the Bulls had a 48-3 lead through three quarters. The Bulls were not looking forward to next week’s matchup versus the Alabama Crimson Tide. If the whole team plays like this next week the game will be closer than many think.
Midway through the fourth quarter, the Wildcats made another change at quarterback. They were trying to find a way to create some sort of offense. It did not change a thing as they continued to struggle to move the ball down the field. The overall game was good the Bulls can use the momentum as they head to play the Alabama Crimson Tide. Head coach Alex Golesh said he is happy with how the team played. The players also mentioned they will celebrate the win tonight and hit film tomorrow and starting Monday begin to correct any miscues before they head to play the Crimson Tide. Overall the USF Bulls looked good and if fate will have it they will give Alabama a test. Last year they did but hopefully, this year is different and the Bulls come out with a win in 2024 over one of the blue bloods in college football.
Does this game do well for the USF Bulls for next week’s game? Leave a comment below.
