The college football bowl season continues as we get closer to crowning a national champion. The RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl will be played on the 21st at FAU stadium, home of the FAU Owls. The two teams are coming from the AAC and ACC. The team representing the ACC is the Syracuse Orange. The Orange finished with a 6-6 record and a 2-6 record within the conference. The AAC representative is the USF Bulls. The Bulls also finished with the same record of 6-6. This is a big for USF since they only won one game in 2022. This is the first time the Bulls have been in a bowl game since 2018. Syracuse went to a bowl game last year and lost to Minnesota Golden Gophers. The game will kick off at 8 P.M. EST. It will be under the lights and in the mid-60s at kickoff.

The Syracuse Orange started their season on a blaze. They won their first four games but after that, they lost five straight games. In the final three games, they won two and lost one. They beat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons by four points, 35-31 to become bowl-eligible. For the most part on offense, they are balanced. Quarterback Garrett Shrader has led a pretty good pass attack all season. In their wins, they had more than 25o yards per game. When they lost, they struggled with balls through the air. The rushing attack is led by LeQuint Allen. The Orange will have to depend on everyone. The defense is weak in the passing game and they will have their hands full with USF. Their run defense is pretty good but the Bulls will challenge them as well on that front.

The USF Bulls, like the Orange, won their last game to become bowl-eligible. USF defeated the Charlotte 49ers. One of the funny aspects is that the Bulls played the FAU Owls early in the year and lost at home and now the bowl game is taking place in their stadium. The word that many would use to describe the Bulls is humble. Both players and coaches, no matter if they won or lost, were always positive. The whole year the players that shined on offense were Byrum Brown and Sean Atkins. Both players broke program records. The defense had its games where they struggled but on the other hand, they changed games. USF will have to stay away from penalties and win the turnover battle to beat Syracuse.

Looking at what the experts say, the USF Bulls have little chance to beat the Syracuse Orange. USF has a good chance of winning their first bowl game since 2017 when they beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Birmingham Bowl. In the games that the Bulls won, they won the turnover battle and were able to cut down the other team’s number of drives. The Orange will be a good test for USF. It will be like the Alabama Crimson Tide that the Bulls played earlier in the year. This could be one of those games that the Orange could overlook as an opponent that they could easily beat. After seeing what the USF Bulls have done, I would not recommend that.
