CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Seven Boston College football players earned All-ACC recognition as announced by the league office on Tuesday evening. Graduate offensive guard Christian Mahogany (Elmwood, N.J.) and graduate cornerback Elijah Jones (Harlem, N.Y.) led the Eagles as All-ACC First-Team selections.

Redshirt junior offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo (Norwell, Mass.) claimed Second Team honors, while graduate linebacker Vinny DePalma (Wayne, N.J.) picked up Third Team honors. A trio of Eagles earned Honorable Mention; including graduate offensive guard Kyle Hergel (Toronto, Ont.), senior defensive tackle Cam Horsley (Cinnaminson, N.J.), and redshirt-sophomore offensive tackle Logan Taylor (Bridgewater, N.S.).

Mahogany, a Preseason All-ACC pick, returned from missing the entire 2022 season due to injury to lead an offensive line unit that placed four players on the All-ACC Team. He anchored a group that paved the way for 193.5 rushing yards per game; good enough for third in the league and 18th in FBS after finishing last in both a year ago. Mahogany, who earned All-ACC Second Team in 2021 and Honorable Mention in 2020, twice claimed ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week this season. He accumulated a 79.3 pass-blocking grade from PFF and did not allow a quarterback sack or hit on 394 dropbacks.

Jones, an Honorable Mention pick a year ago, started nine games at cornerback and twice was named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week. He led the league in interceptions with five and passes defended with 13 while ranking sixth with eight pass break-ups. For the season, Jones earned an 86.6 defensive grade from PFF and an 89.8 coverage grade; sixth in the country. He added 25 tackles and one forced fumble.

Trapilo started 11 games at right tackle. He earned a 77.0 PFF pass block grade and did not allow a sack and just one QB hit allowed on 401 dropbacks. DePalma, who earned Honorable Mention last season, led Boston College with 87 tackles, which ranked seventh in the ACC. He contributed 1.5 tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.

Hergel, BC’s left guard, and Taylor, the left tackle, both joined BC last spring through the transfer portal. Hergel posted the best PFF pass block grade on the team at 86.6 with zero sacks and two QB hits on 402 dropbacks. Taylor posted a 72.0 PFF pass block grade and limited the opposition to three sacks and two QB hits on 370 dropbacks. On the other side of the line, Horsley posted 38 tackles, three tackles for loss, and three pass break-ups.

BC’s four offensive linemen honorees are tied for the second most in the league. It is also the fifth time in six years that four or more Eagles o-linemen achieved All-ACC status.
