This is getting to be a tough call.
Do we love The Joker with the Denver Nuggets the most of any athlete in the world or Jimmy Buckets with the Miami Heat? If you don’t have romantic feelings for both of these guys – as obsessed sports fans not as real, you know, lovers – you don’t have a sports pulse. You don’t understand the meaning of sports and substance of compelling athletes.
Do you think Justin Bieber is cool? Do you think Fonzie was cool?
You’re amiss.
Jimmy Buckets is as cool as the Arctic. Check out his commercial. Look at Buckets air guitar and sing on the airplane to his teammates:
We only wanna be with you, Buckets.
You too, Joker. For the next three weeks, Buckets and Joker will be stealing the NBA spotlight from KD and LeBron. Showing who the world’s best hoopers are, the two of them. The game’s most compelling stars, a new narrative, different characters, and likable dudes.
Exceedingly likable dudes.
Hey Buckets, give us one more night like the one Phil Collins yearned for in this song
Give us one more night of you, Buckets, driving to the lane for blowbys and smooth and simple finishes. One more night of pull-up fade-away jumpers in guys’ faces. All of them helpless. One more night taking over in the fourth quarter reminding us of MJ in the way you look and walk but with a more appealing disposition and more supportive teammate.
You too, Joker. Give us more night-slinging passes to teammates before any of us can tell they’re open. Give us one more night draining floaters in the lane off one foot. One more night of full-court outlet passes for easy layups. Give us more triple-doubles. We can’t get enough of your triple-doubles. It’s becoming too hard to keep track of them. Keep breaking all-time basketball records help by Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson.
We can’t get enough of how to play basketball. Give us one more press conference being humble and funny and compelling, un-American in a refreshing and admirable way.
Joker and Buckets. Buckets and Joker.
On a collision course. Destined for the NBA Finals.
We only wanna be with both of you.
For one more night.
For several more nights, actually.
