Book Encourages Sleeping, Drooling

0 0
Read Time:1 Minute, 52 Second

Reading a book and the big takeaway is this: Take more naps. Sleep more. Lie around. Be inactive. Don’t exert yourself physically except to roll around on your mattress.

Snooze and snooze some more. Roll over. Drool. Rinse and repeat.

The author claims frequent sleeping helps your brain relax so when you’re awake you become creative. Cognitively, your mind becomes sharper.

How different a message from all the books telling us to make to-do lists to be productive and successful?

How refreshing. But it’s probably just a stunt to sell books. All books are written as stunts to enrich the authors. Might as well admit this to ourselves.

Human frailties notwithstanding, after writing this I’m going to lay on my bed, rest my head on the pillow, hook up to a sleep apnea machine, and close my eyes.

I won’t feel lazy or guilty about it because this book comforts me that I should do this unashamedly and purposefully. Plus I always believe most of whatever I read most recently.

Is this guy an idiot? Why would anyone read this blog?

Tomorrow I could read a book saying I should run up and down my stairs 20 times and I would believe that’s the answer to all my issues.

The day after that I could read that the key is to write a blog before I eat my apple fritter in the morning by a fraudster named Sammy Sportface. I wouldn’t believe that blog was credible, however, because any guy named Sammy Sportface isn’t to be believed. He’s some sort of huckster conniving to sell books and grow his platform.

Thousands of books have been published packed with advice on how to live your life.

Should I believe this author is encouraging sleeping a lot? Should you? Is this author lazy? Does he lie around all day? Are writers to be trusted? What do writers know that the rest of us don’t?

The answer is nothing.

So where does that leave us?

I don’t know. Let’s just all doze off, drool all over ourselves, and maybe tomorrow an answer will come to us.

Probably not — but what have we got to lose?
