CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College football held preseason practice No. 15 on Sunday morning in Alumni Stadium. The Eagles took the field for their second intrasquad scrimmage and first with coaches in the press box.
On the Track: Head coach Jeff Hafley’s daily request for Bruce Springsteen sprinkled into the warm-up playlist was “Born to Run” during the Eagles flex period.
Scrimmage Notes: To kick things off, Danny Longman, Connor Lytton, and Liam Connor alternated kickoff responsibilities… the first team offense moved the ball quickly on its first drive with a long completion to Jaden Williams and a completion to Zay Flowers to enter the red zone, but a sack backed them up to the 25 and Lytton hit a 35-yard field goal… the twos got moving with a third-and-long completion to Ishmael Zamor and third-and-one completion to Taji Johnson before attempting a long field goal… the ones converted a fourth-and-one near the opponent 40 on an Alec Sinkfield carry… Phil Jurkovec scrambled for a first down to the 25, but the defense came through on two short-yardage plays with a third-and-one stop by Kam Arnold to force fourth-and-inches and then the line stuffed the run for a turnover on downs… the offense added a late touchdown from Emmett Morehead to tight end Charlie Gordinier… Longman and Sam Candotti both handled punting duties late in the scrimmage.
Situational Football: The first and second teams ended their day with situational football before giving way to the third team… the defense came through with a pair of stops in a scenario with 26 seconds left and a seven-point lead… facing a three-point deficit, beginning at the 45-yard line, the first team offense finished with a 42-yard field goal by Lytton.
