Atlanta Falcons fans are wondering when they’ll make the playoffs again. This team is inconsistent and needs a winning streak right away to gain the momentum.

The Peach state’s NFL team is known for one big strength: offense. Although the defense needs to do its part, the offense is usually reliable year after year. However, the offense has done very little just like the defense the last two seasons. Nothing goes according to plan. The last time the Falcons offense put up big numbers was the 2019 season. Things look different now that Marcus Mariota, not Matt Ryan, is the likely week one starter. However, that can just as easily change if Desmond Ridder proves he’s ready to take the helm.

The Falcons have several newcomers with Mariota, Ridder, and receiver Drake London out of Southern California. The Falcons offense already has tight end Kyle Pitts and he’s one of the best vertical threats in the NFL. He needs to prove that again though after a somewhat disappointing rookie season.

The bad news is Calvin Ridley’s suspension. Hopefully, he’ll be back soon. If not, the Falcons may want to seriously think about bringing Julio Jones back if possible. The Falcons could use a little more depth at receiver. The team has former Browns receiver Kha’Dharel Hodge but that will do little to ease the anger and frustration of Falcons fans. The team needs another off-season win or two combined with an “upset” over the New Orleans Saints.

Having London out there may bring some nostalgic memories back to some Falcons fans. London is a physical receiver much like Falcons great Roddy White. If London plays on that level right away and Pitts has a big season, then maybe, just maybe, the Falcons offense will soar once again.

Atlanta had the 28th best offense overall in 2021, ranked near the worst in the league. The fact that the offense did so little over the last two seasons is a major concern. If this team doesn’t start scoring touchdowns in bunches, it’ll be a long, miserable season. Part of the formula for success is an effective running game so the Falcons must get back on track. Each new season brings a sense of possibilities, hope, and energy. Is this the season of a miracle in Atlanta?
