The USF Bulls came into the last game of their 2021 season. Last week they got beat up badly by the Tulane Green Wave. This season has been full of games that the Bulls should have won. As we all know it’s rivalry week in college football. We saw the likes of Auburn vs Alabama and Michigan vs Ohio State this weekend. USF headed to Orlando to play the UCF Knights. Many of us hope that they would have a better game against the Knights than the Green Wave. If the Bulls could win, it would give them three wins on the year and in some people’s eyes a good way to end the season. UCF is already bowl eligible and the Bulls are far from it. The improvements that we have all witnessed from the NC State game until now have been a great thing to see.
The USF Bulls had a good start to the game stopping the UCF Knights on their drive holding them to a field goal attempt. The best news is that the Knights missed the field goal. The Bulls struggled to move the ball. The first quarter ended with both teams scoring one touchdown. UCF added another touchdown before the half ended. They took a 14-7 lead going to the second half. It was a good game with the back and forth of both offenses leaving points off the board. The USF defense had Mikey Keene very nervous. On the broadcast, the announcers said that Keene was too nervous from time to time. On the other hand in the first half, Timmy McClain showed his immaturity as well. The offense looked flat in most of the first half. So we all know that both teams would make adjustments.
The USF Bulls deferred the opening kickoff and got the ball to open the second half. It did not result in any points. The only points the Bulls would get would be six from two field goals. The defense stayed strong and kept the Knights off the board. The game was a one-point difference going into the final 15 minutes. The UCF offense made some good plays and drove down and got a field goal. That brought the score to 17-13. The Knights would run the ball and try and wear the clock down. The Bulls got the ball and as the clock drained down near the end of the game they had a chance. USF drove down near the goal line. McClain went to try and make a play and threw the ball and it was ruled he was down. When that happened the clock ran out.
The USF Bulls would fall to the UCF Knights 17-13. This means this is yet another game that could put in they should win. It came down to a few plays that could have been a good season for the Bulls. Instead, USF finished the season at 2-10. The one bright thing is that they finally got their first conference win in a while. From my eyes, the team got better throughout the season. Hopefully, next year Jeff Scott and the company can take what they learned this year and apply it to next year. I think this team can be good next year and have a winning season or at least win six games and make a bowl game.
