As of today, the NBA regular season is entering its final week (ending April 12). The playoff seeds are largely set at the top, but the battle for the final guaranteed spots and Play-In positioning remains a chaotic sprint.
Here is the state of the bracket as of today.
Eastern Conference: The Pistons’ Resurgence
For the first time since 2007, the Detroit Pistons have clinched the #1 seed in the East. They have been the most consistent team in the conference, recently blowing out the 76ers to secure home-court advantage throughout the Eastern playoffs.
- The Logjam: Only two games separate the #6 and #10 seeds. The 76ers, Raptors, and Hornets are in a dead heat to avoid the Play-In tournament entirely.
- Today’s Big Game: The Knicks travel to Atlanta to face the Hawks in a preview of a potential 4 vs. 5 first-round matchup.
Western Conference: The Thunder Reign
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been the juggernaut of the West, currently holding a three-game lead over the San Antonio Spurs for the top spot.
- Lakers in Crisis: Despite holding the #3 seed, the Lakers are in “survival mode” after losing Luka Dončić to a Grade-2 hamstring strain last night. They are tied with the Nuggets, who are on an 8-game winning streak and looking to leapfrog them for the 3rd spot.
- The Rockets Surge: Houston has won six straight games, including a 117-116 thriller over the Warriors last night, spoiled by Alperen Sengun’s late-game heroics. They are now just one game back of the Lakers and Nuggets.
- The 10th Seed: Stephen Curry returned for the Warriors last night after a two-month absence. Despite the loss, Golden State has virtually locked in the 10th seed for a final Play-In run.
