CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Following the first day off from practice since preseason camp started last Friday, the Boston College football team returned to the field on Thursday morning inside Fish Field House and on the Chamberlin Practice Field. With temperatures hovering around 90 degrees with high humidity, the Eagles took extended hydration breaks throughout the two-hour practice.

Jeff Hafley and his coaching staff added a handful of graduate transfers in the portal this off-season to help stabilize the depth at certain positions. Following practice, Hafley discussed his philosophy on adding the right players to the program.

“The biggest thing for me is all the guys we brought in, it’s got to be the right fit,” Hafley said. “There’s some players we’ve really liked, that we feel like we could have gotten, but we walked away from because nothing is more important than our culture.”

Freshman wide receiver Jaden Williams had an impressive day, finishing with four receiving touchdowns. The 5’9” Texas native has displayed an elite level of speed and agility, drawing early comparisons to the impact junior wide receiver Zay Flowers made in preseason camp his true freshman season in 2019.

Quarterback Dennis Grosel hooked up with Williams for a deep shot along with a 20-yard score as the team worked on red-zone situations.
