The holiday season is here, but basketball keeps on going on. Yes, the ACC season is underway, however, problems with health concerns are still very much a part of the picture. Schedule reshuffling is still going on and that may be the way for the rest of the season. Like everyone that is a part of this sports, the ACC will do everything they can to play the games the way they were scheduled. So fans of this league will have to check their team’s website to make sure where and when their games will be played. Let’s dive into the rest of the league news.

As of this writing, there are at least two games that will be rescheduled and one that will be canceled. The rescheduled game will be between Syracuse and Wake Forest that was to be played on December 30. The reason for this is a recent positive test that has taken place after a game by the Orange. The positive tests came from the team that opposed Syracuse. The team has been told to quarantine and contact tracing has begun. Syracuse also had to postpone a home game with ND that was to be played on Tuesday night. The other game is of the non-conference variety. Georgia Tech and UAB were to play a game on Wednesday night. That game has been canceled because of positive tests inside the Blazers program. This game will not be made up. As of Tuesday, the league has been able to play 80.4% of their games which is a pretty high percentage.

Syracuse does have some good news to report. Sophomore forward Quincy Guerrier was named the ACC Player of The Week. He recorded a pair of double-doubles last week as he averaged 22.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in wins over Northeastern and Buffalo. Quincy went for 18 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in a win over the Huskies. Against Buffalo, he went for a career-high 27 points and 11 boards. Guerrier is fourth in the conference in scoring at 18 a game and is tops in field goal percentage at .662 (45-of-68). The Rookie of The Week is DJ Stewart of Duke. In a road win at the Fighting Irish, Stewart went for 16 points and grabbed five rebounds in 29 minutes of action. He knocked down 6-of-11 from the field including 3-of-4 from deep.

Boston College snapped a four-game losing streak on Tuesday afternoon at home vs the Maine Black Bears. The 78-62 win was led by Sophomore guard Jay Heath who matched his season-high of 16 points in the win. He is second on the team in scoring behind fellow back-court mate Winston Tabbs who leads the Eagles in scoring at 15.3 a game. BC will have some time to get ready for their next game which will be on the road next Wednesday night at North Carolina State.

Speaking of the Wolfpack, freshman guard Shakeei Moore had his best game to date. On Tuesday night, Moore came off the bench and dropped 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting on #17 North Carolina. It was Moore’s first double-digit game of his career. In the first half, he scored ten straight points vs the Tar Heels.

Georgia Tech’s starting five have been tough to guard so far this year. All five of them are averaging double-figures. Four or more have reached double-figures in five of the seven games played while three members of the starting five have gone for double-figures in all seven games that the Yellow Jackets have played.

In Virginia’s win over William & Mary on Tuesday, junior guard Trey Murphy III scored a team-high 15 points in the 76-40 victory. This was the third game this year that Murphy has scored in double figures. So far this season, he is averaging 11.6 points per game which is tied for second on the team. Murphy is fifth in the conference in 3-Point FG made with 11 in five games for an average of 2.20 a night.
