CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College redshirt junior linebacker Isaiah McDuffie has decided to end his collegiate playing career and enter the 2021 NFL Draft. McDuffie led BC in tackles in 2020.
“First I would like to thank God because without him none of this would be possible,” McDuffie said. “I fell in love with the game of football from an early age. Growing up playing in the streets with my friends or organized, I always had a football by my side.
From then on I knew that football was a passion of mine. Going to Boston College was one of the best decisions I ever made. Boston College took me in as a 17-year old, then four years later, created a man. Throughout my time I formed many great relationships that will last a lifetime. I want to say thank you to my teammates, coaches, strength staff, medical staff, equipment staff, and everyone affiliated now and previously with the Boston College program.
I want to thank my family most of all. Family means everything to me and without them, I wouldn’t be able to chase my dream. I want to say thank you for the endless support you all poured into me on and off the field.
With that being said, I will forgo my last year of eligibility to enter the 2021 NFL Draft. I will forever be an Eagle. I’m excited for this journey and can’t wait to see what life has in store.”
McDuffie led BC and ranked third in the with 107 tackles in 2020. He was ranked 29th nationally with 9.7 tackles per game.
“We are excited for Isaiah as he begins the next chapter of his football career and we wish him well,” said Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley. “We look forward to watching Isaiah play on Sundays.
The Buffalo native had a career-best 16-tackle performance vs. No. 2 Notre Dame. The 16 tackles tied for second-most by an ACC player all season.
He ended the season with double-digit tackle totals in seven games, including six of 10 ACC contests.
