Spinners get the sweep

Lowell, MA- The Spinners had a great weekend series in Connecticut stealing all three games against the Tigers. Two out of the three games went into extra innings including a go-ahead double by Jonathan Diaz scoring Nick Decker from second base, who started the inning in scoring position. A nice offensive game for both Lowell and the Tigers but the Spinners pitching shut the door when they needed to.

The offense was led by leadoff man Luke Bandy, Gilberto Jimenez, and Kervin Suarez all getting two hits apiece and combining for driving in four of the Spinners six runs of the game. Each also adding a triple to their game stats, while Jonathan Diaz added the fourth triple for Lowell this afternoon. That being said the Lowell Spinners saw production up and down the lineup with seven out of their nine starters made the hits column.

Connecticut saw production from their lineup tallying nine hits for themselves this afternoon. The lack of extra base hits could have prevented them from pulling away while they had an early lead 4-1 after the third inning.

Kelvin Sanchez only went two innings which required the Spinners bullpen to stay busy today. Another strong outing for Miguel Suero who pitched four big innings to keep the Spinners in the game. Suero was able to keep his ERA at 0.00 for the season. Jose Larezand Ryan Fernandez also threw out of the bullpen to steady the team late in the guy.

Lowell heads back home for their next series on Tuesday versus the Tri-City ValleyCats looking to stay red hot and continue to improve on their 7-2 record. Hoping to keep rolling and stay on top of the division comfortably.
