CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Ky Bowman was selected to the 2018-19 Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference first team, it was announced today by the league office as part of the ACC’s Operation Basketball event held this week in Charlotte.

Bowman – the Nation’s Most Dynamic Guard – was the only player in the country to average at least 17.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists during the 2017-18 season.  The Havelock, N.C. native was recently named to the preseason watch list for the 2018-19 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year award.

Last season, Bowman was the only player in the ACC to rank among the top 11 in the league in scoring, rebounding, and assists.  Among all returning players in the ACC in 2018-19, he ranks second in scoring, fifth in rebounding, and fourth in assists.  His six double-doubles in points and rebounds a season ago were the most by a point guard in the ACC.  He earned honorable mention All-ACC honors as a sophomore.

He is joined on the All-ACC Preseason First Team by Luke Maye (North Carolina), Tyus Battle (Syracuse), RJ Barrett (Duke), and Kyle Guy (Virginia).  Maye also earned ACC Preseason Player of the Year honors, collecting 50 votes.  Bowman received seven votes for Preseason Player of the Year.  Barrett was tabbed as the ACC’s Preseason Freshman of the Year.  BC newcomer Jairus Hamilton received a vote.

Boston College was picked to finish 12th on the preseason poll.  Duke, Virginia, North Carolina, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech round out the top five.

The Eagles play a charity scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 27 when they host Seton Hall.  Tipoff is set for noon and volunteers will be collecting donations at the entrances of Conte Forum and all proceeds will be donated to the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh.  This charity scrimmage will be the first and only chance to see the Eagles men’s basketball squad prior to the Nov. 6 regular-season opener against Milwaukee.

Mini-plans, group sales, and selected single-game tickets for ACC play are on sale now for the upcoming 2018-19 Boston College men’s basketball season.  For more information, call the BC box office at (617) 552-GOBC or visit BCEagles.com.
