BC Softball: Five Eagles Honored by the ACC

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Five members of the Boston College softball team have been honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference for their performance during conference play in the 2018 season.

Senior Annie Murphy, and freshman Emme Martinez have been named to the All-ACC First Team. In Murphy’s career, she has been named to the All-ACC Second team as a sophomore and junior. This is her first time being selected for the First Team. The out-fielder has batted a team-high .440 in conference play, scoring 13 runs and logging 33 hits. At the end of regular season play, Murphy led the conference in both batting average and hits.

This is the first ACC honor for Martinez, who was also named to the All-Freshmen Team alongside classmate CC Cook. BC is one of only three teams in the conference to have two players named to the All-Freshmen team. Martinez was second on the team and tied for second in the ACC with a .438 batting average in conference play. Despite missing seven games with a concussion, the rookie still managed to log 21 hits, including three doubles and two home runs.

Cook finished the regular season with a .313 batting average in conference play. She became the first Eagle of the season to be awarded an ACC weekly honor after her performance at the plate against Virginia on March 23 – 24. The outfielder has 21 hits in ACC play, including a pair of doubles and two triples.

Seniors Jessica Dreswick and Chloe Sharabba were named to the All-ACC Second Team. As a sophomore, Dreswick was tabbed All-ACC Second Team and as a junior, she earned a spot on the All-ACC First Team. In ACC play, Dreswick has thrown 89 innings for the Eagles, recording six wins and posting a 2.44 ERA. On March 23 against Virginia, the right-hander threw five perfect innings, becoming the first Boston College pitcher to throw a perfect game as the Maroon and Gold run-ruled the Cavaliers.

Sharabba was named to the All-ACC First Team during her junior campaign. During her senior year, the shortstop has posted a .319 average in conference play with 17 runs scored and 22 hits, including six doubles.

The Eagles (30-22, 13-10 ACC) have earned the fourth-seed in the ACC Tournament and will play fifth-seed Notre Dame on Thursday, May 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga.
