NGSC Blows Off March Madness to Focus on Indy 500

NGSCSports announced today that it will not be posting any more articles about this year’s March Madness tournament, which starts tomorrow and instead will shift its attention to reporting on the upcoming Indianapolis 500 held in June.

“Stock car racing drives traffic to our site whereas nobody cares about March Madness,” said Ralph Garcia, president of this floundering Internet sports web site. “The Indy 500 is several months away, which will give our research department time to get familiar with the drivers. We need lots of time to prepare our coverage. March Madness is too soon and not a big enough deal to the American public to dedicate our time to it.”

NGSCSports hasn’t covered the Indy 500 in the past so it will be starting from zero in its knowledge base. The site plans to post pictures of race cars with Tide advertising logos pasted on the car doors.  There will be a special preview about the race on “The Student of the Game” football podcast hosted by NGSC big shot Kyle Steve Nash.

“March Madness is a big yawn,” said Nash. “It’s not good click bait. Our readers prefer stories about cars rolling around a track 500 times in one day.”

Some in the media community are puzzled by this website’s decision to ignore March Madness, arguably the most popular sporting event in America every single year.

“I don’t get this decision,” said an official with Bleacher Report who requested anonymity. “NGSCSports is ignoring one of the great editorial opportunities for the sports media industry to drive more traffic and eyeballs to websites.”

In a related move, NGSCSports announced that Sammy Sportface’s contract will not be renewed effective tomorrow morning after this story gets posted.

“I wanted a new contract paying me more money but NGSCSports turned me down,” said a bitter Sportface. “Just as well, I’ll send my March Madness coverage to Bleacher Report.”
