The conference is down to the final two weekends before we head to Louisville and the ACC tournament. It is also watch list time in the conference as well, as the College Baseball Foundation announced three watch list’s.

The Brooks Wallace Awards Watch List, given to the nation best shortstop was unveiled. From the ACC these names were a part of the list. Clemson’s Logan Davidson, Florida State’s Taylor Walls, Georgia Tech’s Austin Whilhire, Louisville’s Devon Hairston, North Carolina’s Logan Warmouth, Virginia’s Ernie Clement, Virginia Tech’s Ryan Tufts and Wake Forest Bruce Steel.

The National Pitcher of the year list includes Clemson’s Charle Barnes and Pat Krall, Florida State’s Tyler Holton, Louisville’s Kade McClure, Brendan McKay, North Carolina’s J.B. Bukauskas, Virginia’s Adam Haseley, and Virginia Tech’s Connor Coward.

The John Olerud list given to the top two-way player includes Duke’s Jack Labosky, Louisville’s Brendan McKay, Virginia’s Adam Haseley, and Virginia Tech’s Nick Anderson.

Two of the players mentioned on those watch lists had themselves a very good week with the bat and on the mound. Brendan McKay had a four home run outburst VS Eastern Kentucky last Tuesday. He matches a school record and collected nine RBI. The four home runs are tied for third most in NCAA history.

While on the hill Tar Heel #1 starter J.B. Bukauskas currently leads the conference in wins with seven. He also ranks first among league pitchers in strikeouts with 89 and ERA at 1.53. He is bidding to become the seventh hurler in league play to claim the ACC Verizon of the Triple Crown and the first since 2001.

Reigning Dick Howser Trophy winner Seth Beer of Clemson has accepted an invitation to play for Team USA Baseball for the 2017 Collegiate National Team this summer. It will be Beer’s second summer playing for the Red White and Blue.

Congrats to North Carolina State Head Coach Elliot Avent on winning his 1,000th game as a head coach. The win came in the Wolfpack’s 13-0 win over North Carolina Central. Now in his 29th year on the bench and his 21st at State, he becomes one of five active coaches in the ACC and one of 15 active coaches among NCAA Division I to accomplish the feat.
