COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Week 10 slate of the 2026 college football season delivered seismic shakeups to the College Football Playoff race. Heavyweight contenders fell on home turf, undefeated dreams were crushed, and high-stakes conference matchups completely reshaped the postseason picture. From a down-to-the-wire defensive stand in South Bend to an explosive unanswered surge in the Shoe, Saturday brought relentless drama across the FBS landscape.
Here is how Week 10’s marquee matchups went down across the country.
No. 11 Notre Dame 31, No. 1 Miami 24
In front of a roaring crowd at Notre Dame Stadium, No. 11 Notre Dame delivered the biggest win of its season, knocking off top-ranked, undefeated Miami 31-24.
Fighting Irish quarterback CJ Carr turned in a masterclass performance, completing 20 of his attempts for 319 passing yards and three touchdowns without turning the ball over. Receiver Micah Gilbert proved unmatchable on the perimeter, catching nine passes for 98 yards and two scores, while Jordan Faison added six receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Hurricanes quarterback Darian Mensah threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns—including a 41-yard connection to tight end Elija Lofton, who totaled 113 yards on seven catches. Wideout Cooper Barkate added 10 receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns. However, Miami’s late drive stalled when Notre Dame safety Luke Talich forced a clutch turnover to seal the victory. The win vaults Notre Dame firmly back into the CFP top-12 conversation while handing the Hurricanes their first loss of the year.
No. 13 Tennessee 34, No. 8 Kentucky 6
No. 13 Tennessee made an unmistakable Playoff statement on Saturday, traveling into SEC territory and suffocating No. 8 Kentucky 34-6.
The Volunteers’ defense dominated the line of scrimmage, holding Kentucky out of the end zone entirely and forcing three turnovers. Tennessee’s offense controlled the clock behind an efficient ground game and precise red-zone execution. The 28-point victory snaps Kentucky’s top-10 momentum and gives the Volunteers a prime resume-building win as CFP Selection Committee evaluations intensify.

No. 3 Utah 28, No. 9 BYU 20
In an intense installment of the Holy War rivalry at Rice-Eccles Stadium, third-ranked Utah preserved its unblemished record with a hard-fought 28-20 victory over No. 9 BYU.
Utah dual-threat quarterback Devon Dampier spearheaded the offense, rushing for 89 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries while throwing for 177 yards and two more scores. Dynamic wide receiver Braden Pegan pulled down five catches for 86 yards and both passing touchdowns.
BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier threw for 272 yards—including a 75-yard touchdown strike to Legend Glasker, who finished with seven catches for 118 yards. However, Bachmeier was picked off four times by a relentless Utes secondary. Linebacker Trey Reynolds and safety Lance Holtzclaw each snagged crucial second-half interceptions to thwart Cougars drives and keep Utah’s national championship aspirations alive.
No. 5 Alabama 31, No. 14 LSU 13
Alabama asserted its dominance in Death Valley, rolling to a 31-13 victory over No. 14 LSU at Tiger Stadium.
Crimson Tide quarterback Keelon Russell carved up the Tigers’ secondary, throwing for 206 yards and three touchdowns. Wideout Kaleb Edwards hauled in a 25-yard touchdown catch, while Josh Ford and Cederian Morgan also grabbed scoring receptions. Receiver Rico Scott broke loose for a team-high 67 receiving yards.
LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt threw for 380 yards, targeting receiver Jackson Harris 17 times for 11 catches and 166 yards. However, LSU struggled to finish drives, turning the ball over twice and surrendering four sacks to Alabama edge rusher Devan Thompkins and the Tide defense.
No. 23 Oregon 41, No. 12 Ohio State 28
The biggest shockwave in the Big Ten came from Ohio Stadium, where No. 23 Oregon scored 38 unanswered points to hand No. 12 Ohio State a stunning 41-28 drubbing.
After falling behind 14-0 early, Oregon turned the tide with a high-risk fake punt on fourth-and-9, as linebacker Teitum Tuioti completed a 30-yard pass to Matayo Uiagalelei. Ducks quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 257 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Dierre Hill Jr. rushed for 75 yards and two scores. Wideouts Dakorien Moore and Brandon Smith added touchdown catches to cap off the offensive flurry.
Buckeyes quarterback Luke Fahey threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns—including seven catches for 133 yards and a touchdown to star receiver Jeremiah Smith—but an interception by Oregon defensive back Devin Jackson and a dried-up ground attack spelled doom for Ohio State. The loss marks back-to-back defeats for the Buckeyes, effectively knocking them out of College Football Playoff contention.
