Later this week, the first major of the PGA Tour will be taking place. That would be the Masters at the prestigious Augusta National. The ticket to this event is the hardest to get in American Sports. This year will be the year that Rory McIlroy will be defending his title. The best player amongst the odds is world number one Scottie Scheffler. Scheffler won the Masters twice in 2022 and 2024. The past champion gets to have dinner with the past champions, and this year’s host is Rory McIlroy. Here is his menu:
Appetizers
- Peach & Ricotta Flatbread: Featuring balsamic and hot honey basil.
- Rock Shrimp Tempura: With a creamy spicy sauce.
- Bacon-Wrapped Dates: Stuffed with goat cheese and almonds (inspired by his mother, Rosie)
- Grilled Elk Sliders: Featuring caramelized onion jam and roasted garlic aioli.
First Course
- Yellowfin Tuna Carpaccio: Served with foie gras.
Main Course (Choice of)
- Wagyu Filet Mignon
- Seared Salmon
- Sides: Traditional Irish Champ (mashed potatoes with scallions), Brussels sprouts, glazed carrots, and Vidalia onion rings.
Dessert
- Sticky Toffee Pudding: Served with vanilla ice cream.
Wine Selection
- 2015 Salon Brut Champagne
- 2022 Domaine Leflaive Batard Montrachet
- 1990 Chateau Lafite Rothschild (a nod to the wine he drank the night he won the Masters)
- 1989 Chateau D’Yquem (birth year dessert wine).
The rest of the field is star-studded as well, including Jon Rahm, who won the tournament in 2023. It also has Bryson DeChambeau, who has won two majors and has yet to win this tournament. Outside of Rahm and DeChambeau,u there are eight other LIV Tour players. Those players are Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Cameron Smith, Charl Schwartzel, Bubba Watson, Tyrell Hatton, Carlos Ortiz, and Tom McKibbin. Recently, Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed have left the LIV Tour and returned to the PGA Tour. Phil Mickelson, a past Masters champion, will not play because of a family health matter. Another notable player who will not be in the field will be Tiger Woods. Woods was involved in a car accident in which he received a DUI.
It all starts with Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Tom Watson early Thursday morning. But before that, they have a Par 3 contest that always has excitement. This gives the players a chance to involve their families or spouses to caddy and play. The holes that most fans will watch are Amen Corner. Those holes are Par 4 11th, Par 3 12th, and Par 5 13th. These three holes have destroyed rounds for players. It is painful to watch when this happens. The exciting hole coming down the stretch is the Par 3 16th, where Tiger hit one of the most amazing chip shots in golf history.
