All eyes are on the South Florida men’s basketball team today as they tip off their March Madness journey against the Louisville Cardinals in Buffalo, New York. This high-stakes matchup comes on the heels of a historic season in which the Bulls captured both the regular season and conference championships for the first time in 36 years. Meanwhile, the men’s golf team is set to compete in the Linger Longer Invitational against a loaded field that includes #11 Vanderbilt, #16 Alabama, and #19 Charlotte, along with several other prominent programs like Georgia, Ohio State, and Kentucky. The tournament consists of three 18-hole rounds held at the par-72 Great Waters Course, which measures 7,400 yards.
Lacrosse
The USF lacrosse team traveled to Philadelphia to face the Temple Owls following just their second loss of the season against Navy. Unlike the narrow deficit they faced at halftime against the Midshipmen, the Bulls struggled in the second quarter against Temple, allowing four goals. However, the Bulls saved their best performance for the final frame, exploding for six goals in the fourth quarter to secure a thrilling 11–10 conference victory. The team now shifts its focus to a significant home conference matchup against James Madison for Alumni Day at Corbett Stadium.
Softball
In softball action, the Bulls hosted the Czech National Team for two exhibition games before transitioning into their first home conference series against the Charlotte 49ers. After a narrow 3–1 victory in the series opener, USF dominated the remaining two games by outscoring the 49ers 13–4. The momentum continued into a midweek clash against Florida Gulf Coast, played before the third-largest crowd in Eagles history. The Bulls ended that contest in just six innings with a 9–1 win, marking their eighth consecutive victory. As they prepare to face the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes on the road, USF sits firmly at the top of the American Athletic Conference standings.
Baseball
The USF baseball team entered their series against the Columbia Lions riding a five-game winning streak. During a modified four-game weekend that included a Saturday doubleheader and the cancellation of Sunday’s finale due to weather, the Bulls’ pitching and defense stifled the Lions. While Columbia managed only nine runs all weekend, the Bulls’ offense plated 18 to sweep the shortened series during Alumni Weekend. USF followed that up by welcoming the Jacksonville Dolphins, whom they had defeated 11–6 just a week prior. The rematch was even more one-sided, as the Bulls secured a 13–3 blowout victory in seven innings. This win extends the Bulls’ streak to nine games and solidifies their position as the top team in the conference.
