USF Athletics is enjoying a surge of momentum across several programs following a streak of exciting news. The men’s basketball team recently reached a historic milestone by clinching the American Athletic Conference regular-season championship, and they are now preparing to begin their quest for a tournament title in Birmingham on March 14th. Meanwhile, the women’s basketball team is set for postseason action as they face the UTSA Roadrunners in the conference quarterfinals. On the gridiron, the football team has officially kicked off spring practices in anticipation of the spring game scheduled for mid-April. Additionally, the beach volleyball team dominated the Tampa Beach Brawl with an undefeated run, securing victories over the University of Tampa, Barry University, Palm Beach Atlantic, and Eckerd College. The squad now transitions to Conway, South Carolina, for the Coastal Carolina Invitational to face Morehead State, Coastal Carolina, Salem College, and Tennessee Tech. Here is a closer look at the recent performances of the lacrosse, softball, and baseball programs.
Lacrosse
The lacrosse team recently hosted Navy at Corbett Stadium for the Salute to Service game. The contest proved to be a difficult outing for the Bulls, who found themselves trailing 11-3 by halftime after the Midshipmen netted five goals in the first quarter and six in the second. USF struggled to find a spark after the break as Navy added another six goals in the third quarter alone. The Bulls’ most productive stretch came in the final frame with three goals, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. The 19-8 result marked just the second loss of 2026 for USF, while Navy extended its undefeated streak to six games. The Bulls will look to rebound on the road when they travel to Philadelphia to face the Temple Owls on March 14th.
Softball
The softball team successfully opened conference play on the road with a dominant three-game sweep of the Memphis Tigers following their appearance in the T-Mobile Crimson Classic. In the series opener, the Bulls overcame an early four-run deficit in the third inning by exploding for four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to secure a 9-4 victory. Game two was an even more lopsided affair, as USF scored in every inning except the third to force a 12-4 mercy-rule finish in six innings. The series finale was a tighter 5-2 contest with the bulk of the scoring occurring in the first five innings, highlighted by a three-run third. Alex Wilkes provided the exclamation point with her seventh home run of the season. After playing two exhibition games against the Czech National Team earlier in the week, the undefeated conference leaders will return home to host the Charlotte 49ers.
Baseball
The baseball team is currently on a tear, extending their winning streak to five games after a series of commanding performances. Following a win over Stetson, the Bulls welcomed the Southern University Jaguars to Tampa and immediately took control. In game one, a four-run third inning propelled USF to a 6-1 victory, supported by a pitching staff that racked up 16 strikeouts. The following day featured a doubleheader sweep of the Jaguars. The first contest ended in the seventh inning after the Bulls scored in every frame, including a five-run fifth, to trigger the run rule. In the nightcap, USF scored seven of their nine runs between the second and fourth innings to cruise to a 9-2 win. The Bulls maintained their rhythm with an 11-6 victory over the Jacksonville Dolphins and now prepare for a four-game home series against the Columbia Lions starting on the 13th. With a record featuring only three losses—just one of which occurred at home—the team is off to one of its strongest starts in recent memory.
