At the end of the first half of the season, the RubberDucks barely missed out on clinching the playoffs. They finished 43-2, which was just 1.5 games back from the 45-24 Erie SeaWolves. The second half of the season kicked off on June 24th. However, this half has looked very different thus far. After over a month in, Akron is towards the bottom of their division at 13-17.
June endonith a positive ve for Ak, Ron, as they were able to take the series from the Harrisburg Senators. In their first meeting of the season with Harrisburg, they lost 3-2. However, they won the next two 8-1 and 5-4. Under the guise of the Akron Galley Boys, they lost 4-1. But they won the final two games 4-2 and 7-5.
To kick off July, Akron met Erie. This series, they’d be on the road for three and at home for three. On the road, Akron was able to sweep Erie, winning 6-2, 6-5, and 7-3. However, at home, Erie returned the favor. Akron lost 2-0, 8-4, and 7-3.

Fortunately, their next home series came against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. In the first half, Akron went 8-1 versus Richmond. However, they had not met since April. This time around, the Squirrels got revenge. Akron only won under the identity of the Akron Cheese Salads. As they won game four 9-3. Otherwise, they lost 4-2, 2-1, 6-1, 5-3, and 7-2.
After the All-Star break from July 14th to 17th, Akron met the Altoona Curve for a three-game series. The Curve won game one in overtime, 2-1. And despite the Ducks mounting a comeback, the Curve took game two in the ninth inning, winning 6-5. The Ducks avoided the sweep by winning game three 9-2.
The summer woes continued for the Rudder Ducks as they lost another series on the road. This time versus the Senators. They lost game one 5-3 after the Senators scored three runs in the ninth. Akron shut down Harrisburg in the next two games, winning 5-1 and 3-0. However, the Senators crushed the final three games, winning 5-2, 8-4, and 7-0.

To end off July, the Rubber Ducks met the SeaWolves again. Akron took the lead, winning game one 5-1. They continued the momentum, winning game two 7-3. However, they lost game three 11-5.
This ended the month of July, and the RubberDucks were in 5th place at 13-17. They are just ahead of the Chesapeake Baysox, who are 12-17. So far this month, Altoona has been the team to beat as they lead the division at 17-13. Surprisingly, Richmond is making a run in the second half. As the Squirrels are in second place at 15-14.
