Another few weeks have gone by for USF Athletics. This ends March and now with April right around the corner all the sports are heading until the final month of their regular seasons. All three teams have done very well as they head into the final month. The one that has stood out the most has been lacrosse in their first season they have dominated most teams. The softball team continues their dominance as well. The baseball team is starting to round into shape under head coach Mitch Hannahs.
Lacrosse
The last time we checked USF had defeated the Temple Owls 15-9. They had two games and both they have come out victorious. The first one was a road match against the East Carolina Pirates. Once again, the Bulls set a new program record scoring 23 goals and with the win have taken over first place in the AAC. With the 23 goals the team has scored 11+ goals in each game that they played this year. The final score was 23-9 over the Pirates. USF returned home to play the Vanderbilt Commodores during this game they appreciated the alumni. With the alumni in attendance the ladies did not disappoint as they put the Commodores away 17-7. With just five games left they have only lost two games.
Softball
Since, the win over the Central Michigan Chippewas USF has played in 11 games. In those 11 games they have won eight lost two and tied in one. The Bulls hit the road in a three-game series versus conference opponent in the Charlotte 49ers the 49ers who gave USF problems last year. This year USF got revenge in taking all three games with a double header for the last two games. The road trip continued with another double header versus the Stetson Hatters and once again they took both games in deciding fashion outscoring the Hatters 17-1. The next series was back at home against the conference opponents in the ECU Pirates. USF took two out of three and had six game winning streak before they lost the middle game of the three-game series. The latest series the Bulls went 1-1-1 in the three games with their record at 29-10-1.
Baseball
USF coming off a series win over the Mayland Terrapins taking two out of three. They then did a home at home series with the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. The Bulls won both at home and on the road. Then it was time to play within the conference taking a trip to UAB to play the Blazers. Just like in the Terrapins series they took two out of three. USF returned to Red McEwen Field to host the Tulane Green Wave and swept the series in concise fashion outscoring the Green Wave 21-9. They are currently on a five-game winning streak and have only lost one game in the last eight. They are starting to hit a strive the next game will be at home against the Bethune Cookman Wildcats before hitting the road against the Memphis Tigers. We will see how they will do in the next few weeks.
