WNBA Recaps: Lynx Hold Top Spot, Wilson Makes History, and Mystics Stun Fever

The last Sunday of the regular season is in the books and the playoff chase is still heating up. All games were of the cruise-control type of victory with one of those being a blowout stunner. Let’s take a look at the action from the W.

Minnesota Lynx 101, Connecticut Sun 89

The league-leading Minnesota Lynx continued their march toward postseason home-court advantage, putting on an offensive masterclass in a 101–89 victory over the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena. Minnesota’s perimeter ball movement and high-efficiency transition game overwhelmed Connecticut’s interior defense, allowing the Lynx to cross the century mark and control the game from the middle quarters onward.

Olivia Miles continued her phenomenal rookie season by breaking Caitlin Clark’s rookie record of 769 points, adding 21 points in this game. She was helped by the like sfo Ntasha Howard with finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Napheesha Collier added 23 points and six rebounds.

Playoff Implications: The victory keeps Minnesota in the WNBA’s No. 1 overall seed, but only by a half game over Golden State.

Las Vegas Aces 98, Seattle Storm 77

A’ja Wilson etched her name into league history once again, powering the Las Vegas Aces to a 98–77 victory over the Seattle Storm at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Wilson erupted for a game-high 30 points and eight rebounds, officially surpassing the 1,000-point mark for the season. In doing so, Wilson became the first player in WNBA history to record multiple 1,000-point seasons, having previously accomplished the feat during her historic 2024 campaign. Jackie Young added 23 points and eight assists as Las Vegas completed a regular-season sweep of Seattle. Flau’jae Johnson scored a career-high 29 points while adding six rebounds and six assists.

Playoff Implications: Winning their fifth consecutive game, the Aces (29-13) moved into prime position to secure home-court advantage in the opening round of the playoffs.

Washington Mystics 93, Indiana Fever 77

The Washington Mystics delivered one of their most impressive performances of the season, storming into Gainbridge Fieldhouse and delivering a 93–77 rout of the Indiana Fever. Washington set a furious tone early, jumping out to a 34–19 lead after the first quarter and holding Indiana to just 11 second-quarter points to take a 51–30 advantage into halftime. Kiki Iriafen led five Mystics in double figures with 21 points on 56.9% team shooting. Caitlin Clark scored 25 points for Indiana in the loss, and Kelsy Mitchel added 22.

Playoff Implications: Washington’s dominant road win moves them to within one game of the Fever for the 5-spot in the playoff standings. The loss really hurt the Fever in their quest to get that coveted last home-court playoff spot at 4.

New York Liberty 106, Toronto Tempo 69

The New York Liberty showed no sign of a road hangover following Friday’s marquee victory in Minnesota, cruising past the expansion Toronto Tempo 106–69 at Coca-Cola Coliseum. New York clicked on all cylinders offensively, distributing 28 assists and hitting 14 three-pointers to build a 37-point margin of victory. Breanna Stewart continued her strong play, scoring 27 points and adding eight rebounds and four assists.

Playoff Implications: New York holds the 6-spot over the Mystics and Dallas Wings at 26-16 and still has a shot at that precious 4 spot but cannot lose and needs help.

Los Angeles Sparks 105, Portland Fire 84

At Crypto.com Arena, the Los Angeles Sparks unleashed a high-octane offensive attack to dispatch the Portland Fire 105–84. The Sparks established dominance in the paint while running Portland off the three-point line, pulling away in the second half behind balanced scoring across their starting unit.

Playoff Implications: Los Angeles continues to fine-tune its execution down the stretch, while Portland continues to work through late-season building blocks.
