The wait is over. Summer camp has come to an end, and the 2025 college football season is here. The Boston College Eagles will begin at home on Saturday vs the Fordham Rams at Alumni Stadium. This will be the 28th meeting between the two programs, and the first since 1954. BC leads the all-time series vs the Rams with a 14-11-2 record, and has won the last three games. The Eagles last played a team from the Patriot League back in 2023, when they defeated Holy Cross 31-28.
Boston College will be trotting out a new quarterback on Saturday. Dylan Lonergan, who transferred in from Alabama, will make his debut under center for BC. He was officially named the starter back on August 12. Head coach Bill O’Brien begins his second season as the Eagles coach. A season ago, BC was 7-6 overall and 4-4 in conference play. O’Brien brings back most of his coaching staff from last year. Eight members of that staff have returned with two new faces on the defensive side of the ball. Corey Robinson is the new defensive backs coach. Jordan Thomas is the new defensive line coach. This staff helped the Eagles post Top 25 results in nine different categories. They were the most since 2010, when they had 20. The unit also welcomes back three of the top five tacklers from a season ago. KP Price (85), Cater Davis (52), and Dawson Crouch (77). They will have to replace their top player on defense from a year ago. Donovan Ezeinake is now playing on Sundays with the Dallas Cowboys. On the offensive side of the ball. WR Lewis Bond needs 73 catches to pass former Eagles Zay Flowers and become Boston College’s all-time leading receiver. The offensive line returns three members of last season’s group. With center Drew Kendall and tackle Ozzy Traplio moving on to NFL training camps, the Eagles were busy during the offseason building back their roster. From the transfer portal, the Eagles added 19 players.
Joe Corlin begins his eighth season as the head coach of the Rams. His overall record at the school is 31-41. Three players for Fordham deserve to be paid attention to.
