In a little less than three weeks, the game’s biggest stars will take the field at Truist Park in Atlanta for the All-Star game.
The games’ starting lineups will be announced on July 2nd at 7 pm EST on ESPN, and the full rosters will be announced on July 6th at 7 pm EST also on ESPN.
The starters are voted on by the fans here, meaning even some of the most deserving players may not be selected to start. Phase 1 of voting will end on Thursday, June 26th. Here is my roster prediction for the Midsummer Classic, American League Starters Edition.
Votes are as of 6/23, and statistics are as of 6/24.
C – Seattle Mariners Cal Raleigh
Votes – 1,901,389
Raleigh has set the league on fire, becoming the first catcher and switch hitter to reach 30 home runs before the allstar break in MLB history. A slashline of .278/.383/.665 with 32 homeruns and an OPS+ of 202 puts Raleigh in MVP conversations.
1B – Toronto Blue Jays Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Votes – 1,192,604
Guerrero Jr. is trailed very closely by New York Yankees 1B Paul Goldschmidt by 74,103 votes. His popularity leads me to believe he will win the vote, but counting out Yankee fans would be a mistake. Guerrero still has a slashline of .279/.383/.442 with an OPS+ of 130 compared to Goldschmidt’s .293/.352/.439 with an OPS+ of 121.
2B – Detroit Tigers Gleyber Torres
Votes – 1,133,888
Torres has had a very strong start to the season in his first year in Detroit. Slashing .278/.386/.418 with an OPS+ AT 129, Torres looks to make his first All-Star game since 2019 for the 49-30 Tigers.
3B – Cleveland Guardians Jose Ramirez
Votes – 1,780,631
Jose continues on his HOF path with one of his best starts to a season to date. Posting a .323/.383/.527 slashline with 13 homeruns, 20 stolen bases with an OPS+ of 153. This would be Ramirez’s fifth straight ASG appearance.
SS – Athletics Jacob Wilson
Votes – 1,120,791
The Athletics’ shortstop has the AL Rookie of the Year award all but locked up in June. His .349 average is second in the AL to Aaron Judge, 16th in MLB in OPS with an .883 clip, and the best in baseball amongst shortstops.
LF – Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout
Votes – 889,474
Trout’s popularity and image hold a tremendous amount of weight for the fans in their voting processes. His .769 OPS is the worst of his career, but the future Hall of Famer’s reputation will allow him to add his 12th ASG appearance.
CF – Detroit Tigers Riley Greene
Votes – 1,370,098
After a slow start to the season, Greene has turned it around tremendously, slashing .291/.345/.530 with an OPS+ of 144. For the team with the best record in the AL, Greene has been one of their best hitters.
RF – New York Yankees Aaron Judge
Votes – 2,699,483
Not much to say about Judge here, he has a ridiculous 231 OPS+ with a slashline of .367/.468/.734. He is on pace to break his home run record set in 2022, and is set to win his 3rd MVP award.
DH – Baltimore Orioles Ryan O’Hearn
Votes – 937,205
O’Hearn has been one of the only bright spots for the very disappointing Baltimore Orioles in 2025. Through 65 games, O’Hearn has a slashline of .305/.387/.480 with an OPS+ of 148. In his walk year, O’Hearn will most likely be traded at the deadline, but will also earn his first ASG nod before being shipped off.
SP – Detroit Tigers Tarik Skubal
Skubal is going to win his second straight Cy-Young award, and it should be unanimous. Already posting a 3.7 WAR in 15 starts, Skubal also has 117 K in 96 IP to go along with it. An 8-2 record, 2.06 ERA, and WHIP under 1 at 0.854 for the best team in the American League sets up for the obvious choice for him the start the All-Star game.
Author Profile
- Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, I fell in love with sports from a young age. Whether I was playing them throughout high school or in the yard with my friends, I knew I had found something I loved. Watching them was also a main part of my childhood, as I could name almost every player on all three Cleveland sports teams. Talking about sports is something I can do for hours, so as I got older, I quickly realized that I knew what I wanted to do. I started writing about sports and talking about sports in high school. It was fun and easy for me. My dream goal would be to become baseball analyst, covering breaking news and other stories in the sport. I've written numerous articles about sports including the Browns and the Guardians. I currently write for Kent Wired, where I expanded my knowledge to cover Health and Fitness. I have experience with Adobe Photoshop, Premier, and Audition. I work as the social media manager/representative for the Kent State Club Baseball team creating graphics mostly on Instagram and some on Twitter (X) . The goal of this is to get more engagement for the team, create awareness, and raise money. I also currently coach for a 17u travel baseball organization (Midwest Stars) out of Hudson, Ohio. Through this I have been able to continue my love for the game, give back to the community, and strengthen my leadership qualities. My passion for sports especially baseball remains unquestioned and I strive to continue to report on something I love.
