The USF Bulls will be playing their final home game of this season. If they win the game, they will become bowl-eligible for the second year in a row. Their opponent is the lonely Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. The Hurricanes come in with the same record as the Bulls’ last opponent the Charlotte 49ers. The 49ers fired head coach Biff Poggi after the loss. USF will be wearing all-black uniforms and helmets. The Bulls stand sixth in the AAC, and the championship game has already been set. The championship game will be between the Tulane Green Wave and the Army Black Knights. Tulsa stands near the bottom of the conference. They are just ahead of the FAU Owls. The Owls also fired head coach Tom Herman. The Golden Hurricanes only have one conference win. The Bulls are .500 with 3-3 in the AAC.
The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes come into this game on a two-game losing streak. They lost a tough game versus the East Carolina Pirates. The game was tied at the half at 17 apiece. The one bright spot for the Golden Hurricanes is they won the turnover battle. The only facet they did not win was the final score. Tulsa only had 399 total yards to East Carolina’s 536 yards. The defense will have to be better this week against the USF Bulls. Of the 399 total yards nearly 300 of them came through the air. The Golden Hurricanes had 293 yards and will look to expose USF’s secondary this week. This will be the last road game for Tulsa. They return home in the final week of the season to play the FAU Owls who they are ahead in the standing currently.
This is a big game for the USF Bulls because with a win they can become bowl-eligible for the second year in a row. They do not want to change it next week when they play the Rice Owls. The Bulls defeated the Owls last year. There is some good news for the Bulls as starting quarterback Byrum Brown has been back to practice in full pads. Bryce Archie has done well filling in, but the offense is not as efficient as if Brown was the quarterback. USF had a break game last week with 551 total yards. 425 total yards came on the ground. All the scoring came via the run game. The game versus the 49ers was close in the first half but the Bulls had a great second half. They scored the most points of the season with 59.
The game will kick off at 3:30 PM EST. It will take place at Raymond James Stadium. The USF Bulls can get six wins if they defeat the Golden Hurricanes. This game is more important to USF than it is to Tulsa. With the Rice Owls on the horizon, the Bulls need to get their sixth win this week. Look for the Bulls to continue their dominance like they did last week versus the Charlotte 49ers. According to head coach Alex Golesh things are looking up for the Bulls. Let’s see how the game plays out on Saturday afternoon.
