Western Pennsylvania is home to some of the best high school football in the United States. The WPIAL is well known for producing many of the greatest players in the history of football, including George Blanda, Mike Ditka, Aaron Donald, Tony Dorsett, Bill Fralic, Ty Law, Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, and Darrell Revis among the most legendary.

Aliquippa Quips Report
WPIAL Championships (20) | PIAA Championships (5)
It was 16 long years ago when a young lad by the name of Terrelle Pryor and Jeannette took down the Aliquippa in the semifinals, and the first time since 2007, the Quips won’t be advancing to the WPIAL Championship Game.
Initially down 28-0 to Thomas Jefferson, the Quips almost made it a one possession game before the Jaguars ultimately prevailed 38-21.
Three special teams gaffes by Aliquippa handed Thomas Jefferson a free 21 points, and despite having one of the WPIAL’s best players in Tikey Hayes, that deficit was too much to overcome.
That said, this team and it’s players have nothing to hang their heads about. A few of these kids weren’t even born yet when this streak began. The loss of head Coach Mike Warfield, who is on a sabbatical, didn’t help matters, as the Quips didn’t seem to have that same swagger they’ve been known for under him, not to mention having very few senior starters, and playing several classifications up. Finally, it all caught up to Aliquippa.
Don’t get comfortable with the Quips being down, though… you can expect these kids to work even harder to off-season and setting a goal to begin a brand new streak in 2025.
