The USF Bulls will start conference play in the American Athletic Conference. Their first opponent will be the Tulane Green Wave. This comes after a loss to the Miami Hurricanes. The first half against Miami was good. After the teams came out of the locker room at halftime, Miami dominated. Many could see the Hurricanes’ talent take over and the Bulls could not match it. This was the same result from the Alabama Crimson Tide game. They now head to New Orleans to play the Green Wave.
The Tulane Green Wave come into the game with a 2-2 record. Like the USF Bulls, lost to the Kansas State Wildcats and Oklahoma Sooners. The Wildcats game was closer than the Sooners. The Green Wave only lost by seven points to K State. Last week versus the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns, they won by eight points. Where Tulane took advantage is winning the turnover battle. When that happens the team that does it will win the game. Over 50% on third-down efficiency will always look good on paper. Tulane was staying on the field and scoring points. Look for them to continue to mix it up on offense as they like to run and pass the ball depending on the defense they are up against. The defense will have to be sharp against USF.
The USF Bulls will have to rebound after losing to the Miami Hurricanes. The difference between the Alabama game and the Miami game is that Byrum Brown threw the ball more. But either way, they tried to run the ball, and the Hurricanes stopped them. Also, the Bulls cannot fall behind the Green Wave like they did versus Southern Miss. Tulane is good enough to keep their foot on the gas and not let you come back.
This program has taken a step in the right direction and Coach Golesh will have them prepared. Look for the USF offense to build off what has worked in the two games they have won. The defense will be tested because Tulane has a good offense. The Bulls need to get the mistakes from last week figured out. The goal is to win the conference championship.
This game will take place at Yulman Stadium. Kickoff will be at noon. This will be the first conference game for both teams. Currently, the two academies are on top of the AAC. That would be the Army Black Knights and Navy Midshipmen. Also, both teams are staying in the AAC instead of moving to the Pac-12. This will be the first time since 2022 that these teams have met. The Green Wave has a three-game winning streak that started in 2018. Tulane has been in the conference championship game over the last few years. This will be the first time the Bulls will play before 7 PM.
