The USF Bulls will hit the road for the first time in 2024 to Tuscaloosa, Alabama home to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Last year, these two met at Raymond James Stadium and the Tide, under head coach Nick Saban won 17-3. There was a two-hour rain delay which stopped the Bulls’ momentum. Alabama was able to keep USF out of the endzone and held them to just a field goal. Nick Saban has retired from coaching and is part of ESPN College Gameday. The new head coach is Kalen DeBoer who coached the Washington Huskies to an appearance in the National Championship game where they lost to the Michigan Wolverines. Last week, the Crimson Tide shut out the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 63-0 and the Bulls beat Bethune Cookman 48-3. USF has outscored their opponents 93-3 in their last two games.
Coming into this game, the Crimson Tide are a 31-point favorite. Most people would say that Alabama should dominate the game. One of the reasons they struggled last year was that their quarterback play was not so great. Jalen Milroe struggled and as the year went on, he got better. He was one of the reasons why the Crimson Tide was one of the four playoff teams in 2023. Another reason is that the offensive line was young, and the Bulls’ defense line took advantage. Alabama also has a new offensive coordinator in Nick Sheridan so he will open the playbook. If you look the Crimson Tide has better players in every position. The weather played a factor last year and that will not be a factor this year for either offense.
The USF Bulls, just like the Crimson Tide, have gotten better. The quarterback position has been a problem but last year that was solved. Byrum Brown just like Milroe got better as the 2023 season went on. The Bulls played very well last week by the time the game got to halftime they led 31-3. The Wildcats could do nothing but get a late field goal. The team has gotten more dimensional than the team that Bama played in 2023. The defense that gave the Crimson Tide fits last year will do the same thing this upcoming Saturday. Look for the Bulls to focus on what they did wrong last week and get it fixed. Head coach Alex Golesh said he knows what they must fix and with a week to prepare they have that chance.
The game will kick off at 7 PM EST. It will take place at Bryant-Denny Stadium. This might be one of those games that the Crimson Tide will say we have this at get ready to play the Wisconsin Badgers. The USF Bulls will travel again to play the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. I think that the Bulls will play a good game and will test to see how the team stands. But you never know if anyone can win on any given Saturday. In some news, this seems to be a payback game for Alabama, but they won last year. In the end, the Bulls will be ready to play let’s see if the Crimson Tide will be as well.
