The No. 11 Eagles host Duke for a three-game set and celebrate One Boston Day on Saturday.

PROMOTIONS

BC Athletics hosts its second annual Spring Fest on Saturday beginning with the Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Football Game at 11 a.m. Softball and baseball are in action on the Brighton campus beginning at 1 and 2 p.m., respectively, while the lacrosse team follows football with a 2 p.m. start at Alumni Stadium.

BC baseball and softball will mark the 10th anniversary of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing on One Boston Day with both teams wearing marathon-inspired, yellow, and blue uniforms. First responders will be honored during the game and a fan fest, including a touch-a-truck event, will occur outside the Harrington Athletics Village.

ABOUT THE EAGLES

Boston College is 23-9 and 8-7 in the ACC following its first series loss of the season last week at No. 17 Louisville. The Eagles are ranked for the fifth consecutive week, peaking at No. 11 in the D1Baseball poll. Senior center fielder Barry Walsh leads the BC lineup with a .343 batting average. Second in hitting is junior second baseman Patrick Roche at .319, who is hitting .440 over the last 13 games. Roche has driven in 26 runs, which is second on the team. Junior first baseman Joe Vetrano has hit a team-high nine home runs with 27 RBI and a .525 slugging percentage. Graduate right-hander Henry Leake starts in the Friday role with a 3-3 record and 5.12 earned run average. Fellow grad RHP Chris Flynn follows in game two. He is 6-1 with a 3.35 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 43 innings.

LAST TIME VS. DUKE

BC claimed a road series at No. 11/25 Duke in the second weekend of the 2021 season. The Eagles trailed on three occasions in the opener before taking game one, 10-6. Emmet Sheehan turned in six innings on the mound in a 5-2 victory in the finale with nine strikeouts. Luke Gold doubled and scored the first run of the game in the second and later broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run home run to left.

BACK-TO-BACK BEANPOT CHAMPS

BC won the 32nd Baseball Beanpot Championship with a 5-4 walk-off over Harvard (4/11) on a ninth-inning home run by Nick Wang. The Eagles kept the hardware home in Brighton as back-to-back winners for the sixth time in tournament history. Boston College is 43-18-1 all-time in Beanpot games and has won 15 championships.
