CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Eagles snapped their four-game slide, bouncing back at home against Stonehill, 63-56, at Conte Forum.  The game was the final non-conference matchup of the 2022-23 season.

It was a back-and-forth start to the first half, as the two teams traded baskets and saw four lead changes and two ties through the first 12 minutes of play.  A 10-0 run, capped by a steal and layup by Makai Ashton-Langford gave BC its biggest lead of the half – 24-16 – with 4:56 left.  The run extended to 18-0 after jumpers from a pair of 3-pointers from CJ Penha Jr. and a jumper by Jaeden Zackery made it 32-16 with 3:24 left in the half.

The Eagles took a nine-point lead into the break and built as much as an 11-point edge in the second half, but a feisty Stonehill squad kept chipping away.  After a Penha Jr. jumper made it 48-37 with 11:31 to go, the Skyhawks used a 13-6 push over the next six minutes to get within four, at 54-50.  Stonehill cut it to three – 59-56 – with 24 ticks remaining, but free throws from Mason Madsen and Devin McGlockton sealed the victory.

Zackery tied his season-high with 16 points, making 6-of-15 shots from the floor (3-6 3FG) to go with three rebounds, three assists, and three steals to lead the Eagles.  Penha Jr. added 15 points on 5-9 shooting (2-5 3FG).  McGlockton and T.J. Bickerstaff led BC with seven rebounds apiece.

The Eagles are off for final exams and return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 21 when they host Virginia Tech in their home ACC opener.  Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will air live on ACC Network.
