Are you a degenerate gambler? Perhaps you’re someone who picks games against the spread just for fun and to see how smart you really aren’t? If this describes you, or if you just like to be entertained by a crazy sports columnist, you’re in luck, because you’ve stumbled across Against All Odds: NCAA and NFL Picks, a weekly post from the start of the football season, all the way to the Super Bowl, where me, Mike Drakulich (PSN), the man behind Pittsburgh SportsNation, takes on my father, Michael J. Drakulich (MJD), in picking NCAA and NFL games against the Vegas line! Check out the Draftkings welcome offer to see how you can win big and find many bonuses.

I cover both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers during the season for the fabulous NGSCSports.com!

Normally, we always include the local teams here in Western Pennsylvania, which are Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia, and the Pittsburgh Steelers among our weekly picks. This gives me the chance to take shots at the opposing teams I really dislike, enraging certain readers, and adding delight to my busy weekends.

All in all, both my dad and I are pretty good at picking these games, but don’t take our word for it. You’re on your own when you place your bets, so don’t blame us if you lose… but you can share your winnings with us if you wish.

Itchy vs Scratchy. Pepsi vs Coke. Black Spy vs White Spy. Cheers vs Gary’s Old Towne Tavern. History is full of rivalries, but none are better than father vs son! Who will rise above the other this season and become the 2022-23 Against All Odds Champion?

Unlike the Pittsburgh Steelers or Pitt Panthers, both my dad and I were able to continue our winning streaks, my dad besting me by one game at 7-3 for the week.

At last I have clawed  my way back to .500 at 35-35, while dad is two games back at 33-37.

Ten games on the docket again, and we differ on six! Going to be an interesting weekend!

Not sure what the spread would be for the Game of the Century here in Western Pennsylvania, but I’d say Central Valley would be getting 4.5 from Aliquippa, whom face each other Friday night at Freedom High School at 7pm. Quips gonna roll by seven or more, in what will likely be the first of two meetings. These two teams are destined to meet again at Acrisure Stadium for the WPIAL Championships.

Week 9

Against All Odds Lines as of 10/27/2022

NCAA

Saturday, October 29th

#7 TCU (7-0) at West Virginia (3-4)

Game Time: 12:00 PM at Mountaineer Field, Morgantown, WV.

Vegas Line: TCU -7.5

The Pick: PSN: TCU | MJD: TCU

The Horned Frogs are on fire and have risen to #7 in the polls. The Mountaineers are likely in for an early afternoon beat down.

#2 Ohio State (7-0) at #13 Penn State (6-1)

Game Time: 12:00 PM at Beaver Stadium, University Park, PA.

Vegas Line: Ohio State -15.5

The Pick: PSN: Ohio State | MJD: Penn State

Penn State can flex it’s muscles against everyone, except for actual good teams, like when they were pasted by Michigan. The Turnstile Champions will be loud and eager come high Noon, but before long, it will be quiet as a funeral service around 2pm. Dig a hole.

Michigan State (3-4) at #4 Michigan (7-0)

Game Time: 7:30 PM at Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI.

Vegas Line: Michigan -22.5

The Pick: PSN: Michigan | MJD: Michigan

Michigan has to be licking it’s chops to lay down a clubbing to their in state rivals. The Big House will be rocking and hungry for blood.

#15 Ole Miss (7-1) at Texas A&M (3-4)

Game Time: 7:30 PM at Kyle Field, College Station, TX.

Vegas Line: Ole Miss -2.5

The Pick: PSN: Ole MIss | MJD: Texas A&M

Well, the Rebels screwed me last week, so why not try them again? After being pasted by LSU, can the Bulldogs bounce back vs the Aggies?

Pitt (4-3) at #21 North Carolina (6-1)

Game Time: 8:00 PM at Kenan Memorial Stadium, Chapel Hill, NC.

Vegas Line: UNC -3.5

The Pick: PSN: UNC | MJD: Pitt

Pitt will probably screw me here by winning just to spite me, but with Kedon Slovis playing like he’s stuck in quicksand, I can’t envision the Panthers taking down UNC on the road. I hope they prove me wrong.

NFL

Sunday, October 30th

Pittsburgh (2-5) at Philadelphia (6-0)

Game Time: 1:00 PM at Lincoln Financial Stadium, Philadelphia, PA.

Vegas Line: Philadelphia -10.5

The Pick: PSN: Philadelphia | MJD: Pittsburgh

Until Matt Canada is gone, it’s impossible to believe in the Steelers, no matter who is at quarterback. Lets hope hope this is the last week of misery for SteelerNation.

Arizona (3-4) at Minnesota (5-1)

Game Time: 1:00 PM at U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN.

Vegas Line: Minnesota -3.5

The Pick: PSN: Minnesota | MJD: Minnesota

Arizona has DeAndre Hopkins back, but the Vikings are on a roll and pretty good offensively. Dalvin Cook has a big day and Minnesota wins easily.

Miami (4-3) at Detroit (1-5)

Game Time: 1:00 PM at Ford Field, Detroit, MI.

Vegas Line: Miami -3.5

The Pick: PSN: Miami | MJD: Miami

Miami was able to squeak by the Steelers last week, but should be able to roll past the injury plagued Lions.

Las Vegas (2-4) at New Orleans (2-5)

Game Time: 1:00 PM at Superdome, New Orleans, LA,

Vegas Line: Las Vegas -1.5

The Pick: PSN: Las Vegas | MJD: New Orelans

The Raiders have had some bad luck, but this should be the week where it all comes together for a much needed victory.

New England (3-4) at NY Jets (5-2)

Game Time: 1:00 PM at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ.

Vegas Line: New England -2.5

The Pick: PSN: NY Jets | MJD: New England

The Patriots were curb-stomped last week, and the Jets, whom they have tortured forever, are ready to exact a little revenge.
