There are some players you’ll want to avoid taking chances on and others you’ll want to roll the dice on. Here are some players you want to pass on and others that will make your team the envy of your fantasy football league.
Avoid: Saquon Barkley- Running Back- New York Giants:
For all the talk that he feels like he’s in great shape, Barkley is always on the fantasy football injury watch list if there ever was one. How many fantasy football players instantly regret drafting him? You’re better off taking a reliable running back that may be slightly lower on the rankings like Packers’ Aaron Jones or Bears’ David Montgomery.
Avoid: Christian McCaffrey- Running Back – Carolina Panthers: Another chance not worth taking is drafting CMC early on. He, unfortunately, has an injury history too but may be slightly more likely than Barkley to play a full season.
Take a chance: Breece Hall- Running Back – New York Jets:
The Jets had a solid draft and the selection of Hall was no exception to that rule. Although some would rather pass on a rookie because of not knowing how they’ll perform as a rookie, that’d be a mistake this time. Drafting Breece Hall will be one of the smartest fantasy draft decisions you’ll ever make.
Take a chance: Dallas Goedert: Tight End- Philadelphia Eagles:
Goedert is now the starting Tight End for the Philadelphia Eagles. That means he’ll more chances to showcase what he can do. Last season, he racked up over 800 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He averaged over 14 yards per reception. He’ll likely be a top-five Tight End at the end of the season. You don’t have to select Travis Kelce, Darren Waller, George Kittle, Mark Andrews, or Kyle Pitts. Just wait, shore up the other positions on your team, then take Goedert. You’ll like the decision.
Take a chance: Jalen Hurts: Quarterback: Philadelphia Eagles:
Get ready to throw your popcorn and tomatoes at this audacious idea. However, just open your mind to this idea. Hurts showcased top five potential last season and will almost certainly take a leap forward after the A J. Brown trade. Hurts displayed dual-threat ability with 784 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. It’s ok to wait and take Hurts. You’re welcome!
Avoid: Quarterback: Kyler Murray- Arizona Cardinals
Usually, you’d select Murray without a second thought. However, with receiver DeAndre Hopkins serving a six-game suspension, it’s hard to tell how Murray will perform this season. He may not post his usual numbers so it’s best to be cautious.
