Cleveland Browns: Should They Sign Julio, T.Y. or Odell?

CLEVELAND – The Browns are still not sure who will start at quarterback. Will DeShaun Watson face a suspension or will he be eligible to play week one? We still don’t have an answer. However, in case Watson misses games, the Browns may want to give Jacoby Brissett another big-time receiver to throw to.

As it currently stands, Amari Cooper is the number one receiver and Donovan Peoples-Jones is the number two receiver. Will that be enough for Brissett to pass the ball efficiently or should the Browns consider a free agent receiver?

Julio Jones remains unsigned. Although his best days are likely behind him and he has an injury history that could prevent general managers from signing him to a one-year deal, a dynamic duo of Cooper and Jones sounds really good. Jones only recorded 438 receiving yards and one touchdown last season. However, if he can get back to more consistent production, he could have 800+ receiving yards and at least five touchdowns. He may never get to 1,000+ receiving yards again but just getting some production from him would be a huge benefit to the Browns should they sign him.

Perhaps signing former Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton is in the cards. The vertical speed threat could still provide a spark on offense. He’s not in his prime anymore but to get in around 850 receiving yards and five or more touchdowns could really help.

What about bringing back Odell Beckham? Although it seems impossible Beckham will return, perhaps Andrew Berry can convince him to return now that Baker Mayfield is on the Panthers. It’d be a huge win if the Browns can repair their relationship with Beckham and bring him back to the team.

Perhaps the Cleveland Browns are comfortable with the receiving core as it stands and won’t take a chance of disrupting the rhythm and chemistry already present on the team. However, bringing the right veteran receiver on board could be beneficial and boost the odds of winning more games. It’s important for the sake of momentum that the Browns position themselves to win week one at the Carolina Panthers.

You can also bet on the fact that fantasy football fans will be paying attention when one or all of these receivers get picked up. They could be an interesting addition to their teams. They can even prepare for their draft here.
