The golf world was shocked by the return of Tiger Woods. After his tragic car accident that crippled his right leg, e said it would be a while before he made his return. Right as the press conferences started, he announced he was going to come back at the Masters, the first major of the year and one of the most traditional golf tournaments on the PGA Tour. Woods has won the Masters tournament five times. His last victory was in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic changed the world. I will admit that I had tears in my eyes as he strolled up the 18th hole and made his final putt. Woods first hugged his caddie followed by hugging his son Charlie. Many remember when he won his first Masters he hugged his father, Earl Woods. It was a great moment and what started a change in the game of golf.

As the 2021 Masters began, golf fans would love to see him win again. That would be the biggest comeback story in sports history. He made the cut and we thought maybe he would find the magic again. Unfortunately, with his injury, he shot the highest rounds he has ever shot at the Masters back-to-back 78s for his weekend rounds. What I liked was that he said he did not play his best, but he said it will not be the last time we see him. Woods also stated that he was planning on playing in the Open Championship which is the last major of the year and will also play at St. Andrews where the game of golf was created. St. Andrews is in Scotland where Tiger Woods has won before. That course is also easier to walk whereas Augusta National is much harder. Woods has three months to recover.

But wait, there is more. He has applied for the US Open as well. Phil Mickelson also has applied and he hasn’t played since his comments about the tour overseas. The US Open will take place in June at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. It will be great to see both of them back on the golf course. The golf world well has many more eyes on tournaments that these two play in. I am excited to see both. We all know that we still have a star-studded cast of players. Can Scottie Scheffler continue his success in the final three majors? I believe that he will contend and maybe win one of the remaining three. I believe that the time off will give Woods a chance to win either the US Open or Open Championship. It would be cool to see Woods or Mickelson win another major.

At the end of the day, if Tiger Woods can win one of the two majors, he plans of playing in or in any other tournament it will be great for the game of golf. We all saw that his swing is where it needs to be but if he can get his legs back in shape, he should be fine. I do not think he will play in the PGA Championship so he can rest. I think that is a great idea. Many of the players on the PGA tour respect both Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson for what they have done for the game. I want to see if one or both can win one of the remaining three majors.
