Former MLB player Reggie Williams to manage Rox during the upcoming season
Brockton, MA – The Brockton Rox have announced today the first hiring of their 2022 coaching staff. Reggie Williams will be the head coach of the Brockton Rox for the 2022 season. Williams is a former MLB player who played with both the Angels and Dodgers from 1992 to 1999 as an outfielder.
Originally from Laurens, South Carolina, Williams attended the University of South Carolina Aiken and was drafted in the 25th round of the 1988 MLB Amateur Draft by the San Francisco Giants. During his career, he competed under the tutelage of some great coaches including Rod Carew, Larry Bowa, Mike Scioscia, and Rick Dempsey, while also playing for legendary Dodgers’ manager Tommy Lasorda.
Since completing his professional career, Williams’s ambition has been to share his knowledge through coaching and developing young men. He focuses on developing a positive work ethic which he hopes reflects on players’ on and off the field habits. He has a burning desire to advance his players to the next level and is super excited about this opportunity with the Rox this summer. Recently, one of those young men, Cam Williams, his son, was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 2021 MLB draft out of the University of Texas.
