As Boston College gets ready to play host to Holy Cross on Friday night, head coach Earl Grant took time to make public the class of 2022 that will be playing on the Conte Forum hardwood. It is a class that should have fans of the program excited about where things are headed. Four new recruits are on their way, signed and ready to help this team to be more competitive in the ACC. It also speaks to what Earl Grant has been able to do in the short time he has been associated with Boston College basketball. You need players to play in this league and Grant is hoping these new players will help to build the foundation of what is to come at the heights.

P.J. Algbe is a player that has big-time potential on a basketball floor. During this past summer, the notes mentioned his arrival at BC. The 6-7 forward from Minnesota has been rated a four-star recruit by some of the basketball indexes. As a junior, Prince averaged 11.2 points per game. Coach Grant believes Algbe is a good defensive player that brings length and athleticism to the program. He also has a knack for scoring in different ways.

D.J. Hand is a 6-5 guard from Landstown H.S. in Virginia Beach. A four-star player, who is considered one of the top shooting guards in the country, Hand averaged 33 points a game as a junior. He was a first-team all-state selection in the state of Virginia. The highlight of last year was a 43 point performance in the Virginia class B semi-finals. Hand was the first to say yes to BC. Grant called him a big, physical, scoring point guard.

Chris Kelly is a 6-5 guard from the Phelps School in Malvern, PA. He has been named a three-star recruit as a combo guard. He played two years of high school ball in Houston, Texas where he is originally from. He averaged 18 points in those two years in Texas. He also recorded five rebounds, five assists, and four steals as a sophomore. Grant says Kelly is a long combo guard whose body and game have developed at a fast pace. He is a confident 3-point shooter.

Armani Mighty is a 6-10 center from Toronto and United Scholastic Academy, He was born in Jamaica and has been playing organized ball for only three years. He spent this summer playing on the grassroots level with Canada Elite which is the country’s top AAU program. Grant says Armani brings a great dimension to the ACC program with his length, size, and athleticism. He is mobile and runs the floor well for a person his size. He is also a very good rim protector.

The three major indexes all have this class ranked high, rivials.com has this class at 26th nationally, 247sports.com has them at 33, and espn.com also has given this class a high mark. This also marks the first time that Boston College has been able to get at least two four-star recruits to say yes to the Eagles in the same year.
