NASHVILLE- The Tennessee Titans shocked the NFL on Sunday. The team traded for Atlanta Falcons superstar receiver Julio Jones. The Titans didn’t seem like they were even on the radar to acquire Jones but they managed to make it happen. As an added bonus, the Titans didn’t give up too much compensation. The Titans only gave up their 2022 second-round pick and 2024 fourth-round pick. Although some may argue that the Falcons should’ve demanded a first-round pick in return, the Titans made the right offer because giving up a first-round pick for a veteran who’s been in the league more than seven years is usually too high of a price. With Jones, the Titans have the top offense in the AFC South and are the automatic division favorites to win the South title again.

Although the Titans may not have the type of defense typically associated with a would-be division winner, the combination of Jones, A.J. Brown, Derrick Henry, and Ryan Tannehill will lead the way. It will be too tough to stop. The Titans won their division last season by virtue of the offense leading the way and will do so again. The Titans gave up 439 points last season. Their defense ranked 28th in the NFL while the offense ranked third in the NFL. They may have the number two offense in the NFL to start the 2021 season.

Although Jones has an injury history, his production on the field is typically pro bowl level. He only played nine games in 2020 but he hauled in 51 receptions for 771 yards and three touchdowns. In 2019, he played in 14 games and caught 99 passes for 1,394 yards and six touchdowns. He played a full season in 2018 (113 receptions, 1,677 yards, and eight touchdowns) and 2017 (88 receptions, 1,444 yards, and three touchdowns). If Jones can stay healthy, the Titans passing offense will feature plenty of highlight plays and great production. The Titans now have two of the best deep threat receivers and the league’s best power back next to Cleveland’s Nick Chubb. Durability is the main concern for Jones. But if he stays healthy, the offense could be on the Kansas City Chiefs level. It may seem like no more than a bunch of unnecessary hype but watch this offense put up top-level stats. The Titans should win a lot of games early on in the 2021 season.

The Tennessee Titans finished with an 11-5 record last season. With the new 17 game schedule and Jones on the team, the sky is the limit for the Titans. Perhaps the team will least advance to the AFC Championship.
