After everything that the league and college basketball, in general, have gone through the end is here. The final week of the Atlantic Coast Conference season begins on Monday night. Teams will use this week to get ready for what most call the second season in the ACC conference tournament. So let’s take a look back at how the last seven days went in the ACC.

A milestone was reached on Saturday. North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams picked up career win number 900 In the 78-70 victory over #11 Florida State, He is now fourth all-time in wins. He reached the milestone in fewer games (1,161) and seasons (33) than any other coach in the history of college basketball. The victory was fueled by production from freshmen. 62 of the 78 points scored on Saturday came from that group. It’s the first time in Carolina history that all four players to score in double figures were freshmen. They were Caleb Love (12), RJ Davis (12), Kerwin Walton (13), and Walter Kessler (20).

Virginia forward, Jay Huff, recorded his second straight double-double last Wednesday night vs North Carolina State. Although it was in a losing effort, Huff did go for 19 points and 11 rebounds. He also had five blocks in the contest. For the year, Huff is first in field goal percentage at .605 (112-of-185) and is second in blocked shots at 2.52 a game (53 in 21 games). The team will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak when they host Miami on Monday night.

Graduate forward, Frederick Scott, out since November 30 with an injury, returned to the Boston College lineup on Saturday. Scott provided a lift coming off the bench by scoring 18 points and grabbing four boards in 22 minutes of action. His performance helped the Eagles to get a 94-90 victory over Notre Dame in their home season finale. The Eagles will finish the regular season in Florida with games vs the Seminoles on Wednesday, and Miami on Friday.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are having a very solid season. Their conference record of 9-6 will give them back-to-back winning seasons in the league for the first time since 1989 and 1990 when the team went 8-6 in both years in the league. The Yellow Jackets will take a four-game winning streak into their home finale on Tuesday night against Duke. Georgia Tech is second in the league in field goal percentage at .473 (582-of-1230). They lead the conference in both assists, averaging 16.38 a game (344 in 21 games) and in turnover margin at +4.38. Their opponents have committed 325 for an average of 15.48 a ballgame.

It has been a really tough season for the Miami Hurricanes. As the final week gets started, the Canes find themselves in last place in the league. One player who has tried to keep the team above water is Isaiah Wong. In Saturday’s loss to Clemson, Wong went for a game-high 28 points and has dropped 57 in his last two games. He is third in the league scoring race at 17.8 per game.

Next week we will get you ready for the ACC Tournament.
