Looking For A New Sport: Pickleball Paddle

Family recreation is very important, especially when it’s sports-related. It helps keep the bonds and ties strong among family members while also helping develop everyone’s individual physique. People often say that families who “eat together, stay together” but I have something that’s a tad different:

“A family that plays together, slays forever.”

Well, don’t you agree? Playing sports is a very positive activity. It helps you mobilize your body which you would otherwise have lying around on the couch the entire day as you watch Netflix series that seem to be canceled after just two seasons. While relaxing and having a good time are two things that you should also prioritize in life, there are surely more proactive ways to do it – ways that do not involve training on how to be a couch potato.

Your personal take on fun aside, engaging in physical activities will prove to be much more beneficial to you and your family in the long run (read more). For one, you are helping each other transform into your fittest selves. And mind you, this is not something so easily achieved by other families. If anything, most families have a better chance at “getting fat together” rather than “getting fit together” especially when mom loves cooking scrumptious dinners for everyone. If yours happen to fall in love with sports more than eating, then I assure you: Your family is definitely going to slay together.

What Kind Of Sports Should My Family Play?

Looking for new sport

There are all kinds of sports for all types of people. You see, every family is different and what works for one may not necessarily work for the other. There are those who would prefer lighter activities over rough-and-tumble sports. There are also those who wouldn’t have it any other way. Anyway, in order to make sure that you get to enjoy a sports activity with your members equally, you first need to identify what kind of sports game it is that you and your family will most likely enjoy playing.

Let’s start with the basic categories just so you can get a good idea on how you should go about your choices.

First off, you need to understand that there are typically two ways to play a sport: Solo or Team Play. Some sports activities do not allow for team plays while others don’t allow for solo plays as well. However, I guess it’s safe to say that most sports will at least give you these options.

Since you’ll be playing as a family, team plays are usually a good choice. What happens is that you divide your household into two teams and you will battle each other in-game. So if you’re a family of 6, you can arrange a 3-on-3 match. If you’re a family of four, then you can do a 2-on-2 match. Anyway, you know the drill. If this is the kind of dynamic your household would prefer, then playing team sports like basketball, soccer, or Frisbee are great options. Make sure you distribute the members fairly, though! You can make mom and dad the leader in each team.

If this kind of setup wouldn’t work for your family (e.g. your household is made up of three or five members), then you may also want to consider solo play or “1 against 1” and “1 against all” matches.

An example of a 1-vs-1 type of sport is badminton, tennis, chess (although this one is not too physical), catch, and pickleball. Bet you’ve never heard of that last one before, have you? Don’t worry; I’ll tell you all about it in a bit. Anyway, these types of sports may be played individually on a 1-vs-1 match so families with odd-numbered households can definitely take turns playing each other.

But what if everyone wants to join in the fun?

Well, there’s still what you call 1-vs-all gameplays. Say, you’re a family of three or five. I can imagine how difficult team or solo plays may be for you since it would mean that someone gets left out. Luckily, there are still games you can do together as a family like 1-vs-all dodgeball or Frisbee. You can look it up on YouTube if you want to see how these sports are played in this manner.

Going back to Pickle Ball, as promised, let me tell you more about it.

One of the best things about this sport is that you can play this with a team or as a one-on-one match – either way works perfectly fine and you all will get to enjoy the sport just the same. Many of you may not be familiar with it yet so to briefly explain, Pickle Ball is like a mixture of tennis, ping pong, and badminton, basically, most sports that make use of a racket. Only this time, the racket is not the net or mesh type that have grid lines. Picket ball rackets are more solid like the type we use for ping pong. The only difference is that it’s bigger and bouncier and therefore, packs more power. You can check more info out here: https://www.officialtop5review.com/pickleball-paddles/.

It’s definitely the kind of sport the whole family can enjoy. Nothing says “a good time” than some great old racket fun!

Anyway, playing sports is a productive way to spend your next family recreation time. You can create your teams in advance; maybe draw names or colors to decide who gets to team up with whom. Make sure the teams are evenly distributed though. You can’t have a team of youngsters go up against mean older siblings now, can you? Gather the gear and find a decent arena for the match. It can be your backyard or the neighborhood park – just be creative!

At the end of the day, it all comes down to having a lot of fun. So, make sure everyone gets to join. Culminate the activity with nice, refreshing snacks and your leisure time as a family couldn’t be more perfect!
