A brief two days of rest are over, and the final third of the New York Penn League is underway. So here we go.

The All-Star game on Tuesday night was captured by the South. The final score from State College was 7-1. Brooklyn Cyclones, Ross Adolph had a big night for the South All-Stars. He had two hits in the ballgame, both for extra-bases. He had a home run and a double, and he would finish the game with seven total bases.

As play resumes, here is how the playoff races look.

In the McNamara, the Hudson Valley Renegades have a three and a half game lead on Brooklyn. In the  Pinckney, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers have a two-game advantage over the Auburn Doubledays. And in the Stedler, the Tri-City Valley Cats, have a two-game lead on the Lowell Spinners, and a three-game lead on the Vermont Lake Monsters. This is the tightest race of the three.

In the wildcard card chase, Auburn has a game lead on Lowell, two on Brooklyn, and three on Staten Island.

Brooklyn’s outfielder, Jose Miguel-Median is starting to make an impact in the middle of the Cyclones lineup. He is tied for second in extra-base hits with 20, and second in doubles with 15. If there is something for Jose to work on, it would be stealing bases. Right now he leads the league in caught stealing with seven.

Mitch Reeves of Mahoning Valley is a guy that is being penciled into the lineup on a nightly basis. He is second in games played with 50, third in at-bats with 181, and his 52 hits in those at-bats place him third in that race.

It has been an interesting year on the hill for the Vermont Lake Monsters. Despite owning a record that is a game over .500 (27-26). The Lake Monsters pitching staff is on top in some categories you would like to stay away from. Rafael Kelly leads in runs allowed with 37, in earned runs with 32, total batters faced at 232. and in at-bats against 209. His pitching teammate Jhenderson Hurtado leads in hit batters with 10.

It is going to be fun down the stench run of the NYPL, so check back next week for more news & notes.
