SPINNERS TAME ‘CATS WITH 8-2 WIN
Lowell wins second straight with strong offense
FISHKILL, NY – After losing two of their top players, Jarren Duran and Kole Cottam, earlier in the day due to promotion, the Spinners (23-22) played a key game against the Hudson Valley Renegades and came out on top.
With newcomer Lane Milligan batting in the top of the first, Korby Batesole was caught stealing second but managed to cause enough distraction for Grant Williams to come in from third base and put the Spinners on top 1-0.
The Renegades struck in the bottom of the second off of starter Chris Machamer who went three innings with a pair of earned runs, three strikeouts, a walk, and three hits.
Lowell added a run in the top of the third when Korby Batesole singled home Xavier LeGrant to take a 2-1 lead.
Devlin Granberg launched his second home run of the season in the top of the fourth with a solo shot to left field, pushing the lead to 3-2.
The Spinners blew the game open in the top of the fifth with a four-run effort. Batesole singled home a run and Devlin Granberg doubled home a pair to put the Spinners on top 6-2. Designated Hitter Trey Ganns singled home Granberg to push the lead to five runs.
Dylan Hardy tripled home Tyler Dearden in the top of the eighth to make it an 8-2 ball game.
Rio Gomez, Tanner Raiburn, and Andrew Politi closed out the game with six one-hit innings while holding the Renegades scoreless.
The Spinners head to a key series against the division-leading Tri-City ValleyCats on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with Eduard Bazardo on the hill.
