RED HOT SPINNERS WIN SIXTH STRAIGHT

Road trip success continues with a 6-2 win in Batavia

LOWELL, MA – It appears that the Spinners (15-14) are loving life on the road as they picked up their sixth straight win, fifth in a row away from LeLacheur Park, over the Batavia Muckdogs (12-16) in impressive fashion.

The Spinners got on the board first in the top of the second inning with Tyler Esplin getting it started by reaching on an error. A single from Korby Batesole put Esplin in scoring position for Grant Williams who drove in the go-ahead run with a single.

Starting pitcher Thaddeus Ward turned in his best professional start to date with three scoreless innings of work. He allowed a pair of hits while striking out a pair and giving up two hits. Through three starts, his ERA currently sits at 4.05.

With the game tied in the top of the fifth, Batesole was hit by a pitch to leadoff the inning. Williams then continued his big day with a double to move Batesole over to third. Dylan Hardy drove in Batesole with a sacrifice fly to put Lowell on top 2-1.

The offense broke the game open in the top of the seventh with a four-run inning to take a 6-2 lead. Jarren Duran, who extended his hit streak to six games, got the inning started with a leadoff single. After a pair of walks from Devlin Granberg and Dylan Hardy to load the bases, Kole Cottam doubled home a pair to make it 4-2. Ramfis Berroa later added a run on a fielder’s choice and Grant Williams took a bases-loaded walk to push the lead to four runs.

Right-hander Hunter Haworth impressed in his first relief appearance of the season. Though he surrendered a pair of earned runs, he struck out a season-high seven batters and walked only one in four innings out of the bullpen.

Tanner Raiburn shut the door on the last two innings out of the bullpen to lock down the 6-2 victory for the Spinners.

With the win, Lowell closes out a six-game road trip tomorrow in Batavia with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 as Chris Machamer is slated to make his professional debut.
