It was a game that the Boston College’s Eagles had to have if playing postseason basketball was in their future. Every win is critical, with the ACC tournament right around the corner. On Wednesday night, the Eagles took a step in that direction placing four players in double figures. The Eagles got win number 17 on the season, 85-70 over Syracuse.
Once again the Eagles were led by the trio of Jerome Robinson, Ky Bowman, and Jordan Chatman who combined for 63 of the Eagles 85 points. Robinson had 22, Bowman 23 and Chatman had 18. They were joined in the double-digit parade by Nik Popovic who scored 11 off Jim Christian’s bench.

Later in the half, another run of 6-0 gave Boston College its first double-digit lead of the night at 27-14. Bowman had five of those points, Chatman the other on a free throw. Eagles were rolling and the home crowd was loving it.
As has been the case in every game they have played this season, BC fell asleep at the wheel. Syracuse ripped off an 11-0 explosion behind the hot shooting of Tyus Battle who had five in that stench. He finished with a game-high 29. He got help from Oshae Brissett (18 points on the night) who did his damage at the free throw line, hitting four straight following by a layup. The Orange climbed all the way back to down one at 34-33 with two minutes left in half.

Syracuse would outscore BC by a seven to six margin, with Battle scoring all seven points. The Eagles countered with three-point makes from Bowman and Robinson. By halftime, at Conte Forum it was the Eagles by three, 40-37.
The second half picked up right where the first left off as the Eagles jumped out on a 7-2 spurt to take a nine-point advantage at 47-38 with 16 minutes left in the game.
A quick 6-0 burst got Syracuse to within seven at 58-51 with ten minutes to play. Battle again scored all the points. The Eagles put the game away by going on a finishing run of 11-2 to take a fifteen point lead at 69-54 with seven to play. The trio was at the center of it for BC, knocking down all the points either from the premier, foul line or from three-point range. On this night they were not going to be stopped.
For the remaining seven minutes, the Eagles were able to keep the lead at above ten points. Syracuse was forced to trap and foul, and BC took good care of the ball and made their shots when necessary. Final score, Boston College 85 Syracuse 70.
That's the way to close out the home schedule!
