BOSTON COLLEGE POSTGAME NOTES

Team

Notre Dame rushed for 515 yards as the Fighting Irish captured a 49-20 victory at Boston College Saturday afternoon. Notre Dame leads the all-time series 15-9 overall and 6-4 in Chestnut Hill.

Under Steve Addazio, Boston College is 9-9 overall in September and 7-6 in September home games.

Notre Dame rushed for 515 yards, tied for the second-most allowed in BC history. Army rushed for 516 yards in 2012, the most yards given up by a BC defense. Army also rushed for 515 yards against the Eagles in 1985.

Boston College set season-highs on offense with 185 yards rushing, 215 yards passing and 400 yards of total offense.

Offense

Graduate wide receiver and captain Charlie Callinan caught his fifth career touchdown pass and his second against Notre Dame with his 22-yard TD reception in the second quarter. Callinan added his second receiving touchdown with a 14-yard reception in the fourth quarter.

Callinan finished with career-highs in receptions (7), receiving yards (82) and touchdowns.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Brown was 24-for-40, recording his second 20-plus completion game. He was 26-for-42 in the win at Northern Illinois on Sept. 1. He threw two touchdowns and was intercepted twice against the Irish to bring his career TD total to five.

Brown set a career-high in passing yards (215) and tied a career-high with two touchdown passes.

Junior running back Jon Hilliman rushed for 122 yards, his sixth career 100-yard game. The New Jersey native finished a season-high in rushing, the most since he notched 102 yards against Georgia Tech on Sept. 3, 2016, in Dublin, Ireland.

Defense

Junior linebacker Kevin Bletzer made his first career start (28th career game) replacing an injured Connor Strachan in the starting lineup. He finished with four tackles.

Senior linebacker Ty Schwab led the Eagles with a career-high 10 tackles on the day.

Junior defensive end Zach Allen tied a career-high with nine tackles. The Connecticut native also finished with two quarterback hurries and one tackle for loss.

Junior free safety Lukas Denis finished with seven tackles and recorded his team-leading second interception of the season.

Special Teams

Junior place-kicker Colton Lichtenberg was 2-for-2 on field-goal attempts to continue his perfect start to the 2017 season. He is 6-for-6 on the season with two over 40 yards, including a 41-yarder today.

Senior punter Mike Knoll averaged 38.4 yards on eight punts, including a long of 51 yards. He also had seven punts inside the 20.

Senior place-kicker Max Schulze-Geisthovel finished with five touchbacks on all five of his kickoffs. On the season, 10 of his 14 kickoffs have resulted in touchbacks.

Coin Toss: Notre Dame won the toss and deferred. Boston College received the opening kickoff.
