Boston College 2017 Football Schedule Announced

Home games vs. Notre Dame, Virginia Tech & Florida State highlight ’17 slate

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College and the Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2017 football schedule on Tuesday. The Eagles host six teams at Alumni Stadium along with a cross-town trip to Fenway Park against Connecticut.

The Eagles head into 2017 with three consecutive wins after Boston College ended the 2016 season 7-6 overall following a 36-30 victory over Maryland in the Quick Lane Bowl. It was BC’s first bowl victory since 2007 and Steve Addazio became just the second coach in school history to lead the Eagles to three bowls in the first four years as head coach.

BC returns 17 starters next season, including nine on offense and seven on defense. Senior All-America defensive endHarold Landry led the nation with 16.5 sacks last year to become the first Eagle to lead the country in sacks. The 16.5 sacks also set a new school single-season record.

Boston College opens the 2017 season on the road at Northern Illinois on Friday, Sept. 1. BC is 2-0 all-time against NIU, including a 17-14 win over the Huskies at Alumni Stadium in 2015.

The Eagles open their home portion of the 2017 schedule with an ACC matchup against Wake Forest on Saturday, Sept. 9. BC is 13-9-2 all-time against the Demon Deacons and won 17-14 at Wake last season in the regular-season finale to become bowl-eligible. It is the third time in BC history the Eagles will host Wake to begin ACC play since joining the conference in 2005.

Old rivals meet on Saturday, Sept. 16 at Alumni Stadium as Notre Dame ventures to Chestnut Hill. The Fighting Irish lead the all-time series 14-9 as the two teams square off for the first time since Notre Dame’s 19-16 win over the Eagles at Fenway Park in 2015. BC will look for its first win at home against Notre Dame since a 17-0 victory in 2008 at Alumni Stadium.

Boston College begins its ACC road schedule at defending the national champion, Clemson, on Saturday, Sept. 23. The Tigers leads the series between the two schools 15-9-2 as BC looks for just its fourth win all-time at Clemson (3-6-1).

The Eagles return home to the friendly confines of Alumni Stadium for two consecutive games on Saturday, Sept. 30against Central Michigan and Saturday, Oct. 7 against Virginia Tech. BC is 3-0 all-time against the Chippewas as the two schools will meet for the first time since a 31-10 BC victory in 2009 in Chestnut Hill. Virginia Tech holds a 17-8 series advantage against the Eagles.

Two ACC road tilts follow as Boston College visits Louisville on Saturday, Oct. 14 and Virginia on Saturday, Oct. 21. Louisville and the Eagles meet for the 10th time as the Cardinals lead the all-time series 6-3 following last year’s win at Alumni Stadium. BC and UVA faceoff for the first time since 2010 as the Eagles look to remain undefeated all-time against the Cavaliers (5-0). BC has only played once in Charlottesville when the Eagles came away with a 14-10 victory in 2009.

The lone Friday night home game on the 2017 schedule will be a visit from Florida State on Oct. 27. The Seminoles lead the all-time series, 11-4.

Boston College closes out its home schedule with Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 11 against NC State at Alumni Stadium. Last season, BC earned a 21-14 win on the road in Raleigh. All-time, BC is 9-5 against the Wolfpack.

A “road” game at Connecticut is just a short trip across town to Fenway Park in the final non-conference game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 18. BC is a perfect 11-0-2 against UConn, including last year’s 30-0 shutout over the Huskies in Chestnut Hill.

The 2017 regular-season schedule ends with a trip to rival Syracuse on Saturday, Nov. 25, in the Carrier Dome. The Orange lead the all-time series 31-19 after last year’s 28-20 win at BC.

Season tickets are now available for the 2017 season by visiting BCEagles.com or calling 617-552-4622 (GOBC).

Kickoff times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.
